    Jim, we have to agree to disagree. The stuff you've heard is not the truth. That has not been advanced as a way to pay. Funding options are detailed in my above post. I'm trying not to vent I'm so upset right now. You were lucky to live in a state with some options for the uninsured. In Nevada he has no options. None. The only public facility to provide cancer treatment for the uninsured, UMC, stopped offering this care last winter. It was partially refunded, but it won't begin accepting patients until 2010. They literally sent Don home to die if we can't find someone to take him. Only problem with that is there is no one to take him. Nevada is a hard hard place to be seriously ill.

    I don't know Jim, he lived in California until 2 years ago. If the VA doesn't take him, we might have to take him to California - if that'll help. They're broke too. I don't know what Don and his wife are going to do. My brothers and I have come up with enough money to help them pay bills until Jan or Feb. We'll see what we can do after that.

    Some great news, finally! Don does have the tumor on his spine, but he doesn't have a lung tumor. That changes the type of cancer completely. From something that has no treatment (metasticized lung cancer) to something that might be treatable. Whew, something for him.
