- Hey all just have a quick question for you guys. Has anyone here had any experience with Toshiba laptops? I have had two laptops in the past but one was IBM and the other was a Compaq. The one I currently am looking for right now is the Toshiba Satellite T135D-S1325WH. Im a college student so the most important for me is portability and battery life.
Satellite T135D-S1325WH
The laptop looks great (although some of you may scoff at the AMD processor) and has decent battery life (rated as 6hours with the standard 6 cell).
I'm not doing anything heavy duty with the laptop just the standard student fare. Write/research reports, view PDF's, email (although I have the BB for that haha!) and an occasional movie. I don't play games so that isn't an issue.
What I'm most interested in is the build quality if anyone has any advice. My IBM was superb and just outlived its usefulness and the compaq developed a loose charging port which drove me insane because I couldn't fix it no matter how much I tinkered and soldered.
Thanks in advance for the help guys!
also if anyone has a suggestion for a small laptop (14" or less and as light as possible) for around the same price with better/comparable specs the recommendation would be much appreciated01-14-10 06:57 PMLike 0 - My last laptop was a Toshiba Satellite. Fine machine. No problems with build quality or function for more than two years. The machine was stolen a few months ago. Someone got a fine laptop.

Like sedalia said, excellent build quality, they last for years, no issues with failing hardware or anything. I have an IBM issued from my job, vrry good as well. I tend to stay away from Dell's. But yea, my opinion Toshiba is an excellent choice and you will be very happy with it.

One other thing but how hard is it to take apart the Toshibas? The compaq I had not only had screws but was glued as well so it was extremely hard for me to try to fix anything.
I'll probably pull the trigger on it sometime next week after I get paid >.< Darned college tuition fees are sucking more money out of me every semester...01-14-10 08:23 PMLike 0 - The one's I've had haven't been glued. They are just screwed together but you take it apart from the top, meaning take off a guard like thing, pop out the keyboard and go in from top to bottom if that makes sense. Not hard, just different. I don't know if they're all like that but the ones I've had were so I can only assume. Unless you plan on upgrading memory or something I wouldn't plan on taking it apart unless you just like doing that LoL. The hardware really lasts. You can take out the hard drive from the bottom. Just a cover 4 screws and it pops out.

This machine has been put through its paces with my daughter who has dropped it a few times, used, and abused it and its still going strong. I've had many laptops and this, by far, is my favorite because it has never failed me. I'm positive you'll be happy with your purchase.
