Disable "secure" boot, put BIOS/setup utility to Legacy mode (optional, if USB devices DON'T boot) and save, reboot. Install a GNU/Linux Distribution of choice (based on experience/knowledge) and away you go.

On topic: I will NEVER TRUST MICROSOFT or their software.

Two years too late. The reason I don't use Microsoft devices, especially desktops and laptops is because they will update and reboot when not being attended to. I produce BluRay slide shows for birthdays, weddings, family affairs. After completing and structuring many composite graphic and video files into a final video to be rendered, it can take an hour or two to finalize, (render all parts to one file.) So, I set it up to do so after I go to bed so I don't have to suspend any production activity to keep processor speed at a high level. Of course, I update everything that may interrupt the process before making the final click to render. This produces a file I can author with a menu, repeat, chapter list, etc.

Many times, after covering all the loose ends, I have committed the render only to wake up the next morning and find that "Windows has installed updates. You computer was restarted to finish updates." A major deal breaker for my business quality.

No more. Believe me, I've done everything. Disable A/V, free up as much processor power as possible, etc.
    No more.

As far as your advice, I'm sure it's great, but I don't build computers. I order them with specs that will work and check the boxes that make that happen.

Oh, and I'll never own a desktop computer, etc., etc.

You cannot escape microsoft' rein unless you replace their operating system with something else (OS X/BSD or GNU/Linux), or QNX. Microsoft doesn't make the laptops that dell and others sell, only their Surface line.

I now work from a Macbook Pro Retina 15.4" running Yosemite through 8gb RAM, 500gb hdd, render to five external drives, two of which have a 1tb cap, one with a 2tb cap, and a 500gb from my PS4 and a 500gb from my wife's laptop. A GForce GT 650M graphics card, 8 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3615QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
processors. I put a 1tb SSHD in her laptop a week ago and one in my PS4 a month ago.

I refuse to store anything on any computer's internal drive. Microsoft taught me that lesson.
Back in 2001 when I was 47 years old, I bought my first computer. I learn new things daily.

I know who makes the hardware and who makes the software. I will never ever again be stuck with one computer and no externals. I have Win 7 installed on my Mac through a Bootcamp partition. There are two apps I am waiting for SONY to produce for Apple which I have been using versions of for 12 years. When that happens, and it's in the works, I'll be done with Microsoft for good.

The cost to buy an Apple computer is not an issue. My business running smoothly and me not having to provide excuses to my clients for not meeting the deadline is of major importance. It must work when I need it too, and smoothly. My Macbook Pro does both.

Sometimes I can force myself to be aware in my dreams, like I'm conscious and aware of myself, like in the Wheel of Time series (Robert Jordan). What you experienced though is quite interesting.
