I've only owned one tablet in my life and that was the playbook. I sold it. It was a great little tablet, although it would lag sometimes while watching movies hooked up with HDMI out on my receiver surround setup. I guess the 1gig ram was not enough sometimes for 1080p movies? But...My Q10 pretty much replaced my mobile computing needs and tablet needs....and does movies flawlessly like its a desktop.

Yet here I am looking for a bigger screen device for lazy couch browsing the net while watching TV. That is all it will really be used for TBH. And playing some games while SUPER BORED...and i dont feel like playing the Wii U.
Also probably will bring it on road trips in summer.

Requirements are simple:

HD screen.
HDMI out would be nice.
Cheapest possible price.
I think I want bigger then 7" this time so 8+ size.


Any tablet experts out there? I dont track the tech of these kinds of devices so I dunno really what to get for Xmas.

edit: the 2 I listed are just what I'm thinking initially. Any other suggested makes/models would be nice.

I have the surface Pro 2 and its been a fantastic device so far. I don't have any games on it though I'm not sure what the game ecosystem is like.

SG note is incredible, I own PlayBook and my girlfriend has the note. Note is very fast but it is expensive.

It is heavier than my iPad 3 but it isn't alot heavier. I'm not sure what dota2 is lol. Sorry.

This is why I bought it and I'm am 100% satisfied with it. Just my opinion though.

Should have added I got the 4gb ram/128gb hard drive. It does everything I need it for plus if I need more storage I can use sd card or external hd

I have a Note 8.0, it's pretty nice, and for messing around on the couch, I think it'd be ideal since it has an IR Blaster. Meaning you can use the Peel app (don't update it, the updates have ruined stuff that worked great before on the version that came baked into the device) to change channels, look for something to watch, run your DVR if you have one, etc.

Outside of your options, check out the SONY Experia Tablet Z. 10", Waterproof, weighs only 1 lbs, thinnest tablet in the market (claim was made prior to ipad air release so im not sure how they compare) and generally a solid built tablet which is suggested by reviews that it is the best android tablet on the market!
