Okay, so I would like to figure out the surface area of a fictional continent i'm making for a fictional fantasy map. Ive mad an example continent real quick that is simple.

    The question I have is

if 42 pixels wide is equal to 103 kilometers, then how many kilometers is 1 pixel equal to?

and then after finding out that answer how do I determine how many KM squared my selected object is

the amount of selected pixels in the following blob is 880996, how many square kilometers would that be.

Please don't flame me for not being able to math, it would just be rude, we all have our own weaknesses.

If 42 pixels wide is 103km, then 1 pixel is 2.5km wide... Each pixel is a square so multiply 2.5*2.5 to find square kilometres of one pixel, then multiple that answer by your selection.

This is what a friend told me. Thread is not needed now.

First, get the total area of all the pixels that aren't part of the continent. Then multiply that amount by three, if that means going over the land pixels.
If done properly, the surface area of the land will be zero. Close down the application, and watch a movie.
