I set the left key to do nothing, which just lights up the LCD when pressed. Nice for glancing at the time without looking to press one of the buttons on the front.
FYI... Application switcher can be brought up by holding down on the BlackBerry button. Holding down on "Q" can set it to "vibrate only". Don't know if this has already been covered, just thought I'd share what I found while messing around with it.

Thanks for the tip. In previous OS versions, initiating the app switcher involved the alt button so this is a lot more convenient. My left convenience key is now messages.

I have my left convenience key setup with qsms so I can quickly compose a text message. I didn't find a quick shortcut to compose a text from the sms inbox so I just set it to the convenience key.
Ok so, The only time I use Voice activated dialing is when I am using a Bluetooth in the car, and the button on that activates VAD. so having the side button linked to VAD is pointless.
Now with my pearl I had it assigned to the application switcher for easy app switching. with 4.7 and the "hold the BB button to app switch" this is no longer needed either.
so post your left convenience key assignments here, hopefully one will sound like a good idea to me.
I use mine for BBM.
Let us know what you end up deciding you'll assign to your left convenience key
Hi all,

Quicklaunch all the way. That means that by pressing the left button, you then get a menu of all of your applications sorted as you like (including browser links etc) which you can quickly navigate through to run what you wanna run. You can also do this while in an application, thus making it fast and easy to switch applications. No more scrolling through icons trying to figure out what they mean lol!
I also use mine for Quicklaunch. I have some tips that work on my 8900 and hope they also work on the tour.
Disable dial from home screen. This opens up the keyboard shortcuts which are:
A for contActs
M for Messages
N for blackberry messeNger
L for caLendar
U for calcUlator
T for tasks
C for Compose
B for Browser
O for Options
That's all I can think of right now. I also have qsms from berrycoder to allow easier sms sending.

Well on my 8330 i would use it for profiles since the the profile icon could be hid. But now with the tour you have the dedicated icon in the upper left corner. So now i am debating to switch it something else. Decisions, Decisons!!
