I'm always open to suggestions on literature to check out.... I thought rather than asking the same old people this post might help me get a broader response.

I wouldn't recommend the whole Stephen King library (well, I do, but I'll narrow it down a little), but the Dark Tower books are amazing. I need to make time to continue, but I may re-read #4 before I move on to 5, 6, and 7.

Also, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a great trilogy at 5 books.

Denis Leary has a new book coming out, I read an excerpt in Playboy, very good. Also, I've only read "Brain Droppings," but I'd recommend anything by George Carlin.

I read as much as it is for work; to the point where it has unfortunately compelled me to think twice to read for leisure now. Personally; I am drawn to non-fiction/biographical/historical framework literature. However when I did read more often for the pure fun of it...here are some of my favorites:

    The Autobiography of Malcolm X
    The Center Cannot Hold
A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier
The Nine: Inside The Secret World of the Supreme Court
    Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid
    Confessions of an Economic Hitman
    Lolita

    +1 on Atlas Shrugged.

One of my favorites is Rich Man Poor Man by Irwin Shaw. It's tough to find since I believe it's been out of print for quite awhile but it's easy enough if you hit ebay.

I also really enjoy anything by James A. Michener and if you enjoy history and have time for 1000+ pages check him out. Tons more but I'm at work and don't have time to make a list lol.

It really is. The funny thing is, it was required reading for poetry and semantics in high school, and I still read that same copy to this day, nearly ten years later.

I also recommend the scarlet ibis - one of the saddest books I have ever read.

Jenay, that is an amazing book. I've reread that one more times than I
