Star Trek for me too I haven't been able to finish a Star Wars movie (yet).

With the exception of Deep Space Nine though, I have watched every Startrek episode to date

Wow. Didn't realize there was an actual Star Wars sub-forum section here.

I grew up on Star Trek, seeing it in local syndication in the early 70s in the afternoons after school, then in the evenings after the late news, for years until some time in the early 80s. It was a fairly big part of my life. Built every model I could get, found as much as I could about the actual models used to film the show (big interest in the 11' TOS Enterprise model and it's long missing 3-footer).

Even then, Star Wars comes out when I was 11 - saw it good 8 times during it's run through '78. Had the "Story of Star Wars" cassette tape and booklet (that I wore out). Had the soundtrack on cassette (that I wore out). Built every model I could locally get. Got every book on the movie I could get - mostly about the design, effects and the models as that was still my major interest.

I still maintained my interest in Star Trek. When the Motion Picture came out - I actually liked it. I like it more today.

Very different types of stories are presented between the two franchises. Star Trek is more like true science fiction - morality plays set in a science fiction universe. Star Wars is science fantasy - mythology and fantasy set in science fiction-like setting. I have no problem with either one, love both, and can keep them in separate bubbles in my mind.

Just as I do with both Battlestar Galacticas, Farscape, and all the Stargate shows.

I can't put one over the other, really.

Star Trek all the way for me.
However, they are two very different beasts. Sure Star Trek has it's share of movies but they are really known for their TV series where more work can be put into building up the characters and leaving them appearing less shallow. Also, I definitely say Star Trek is science fiction where as Star Wars is definitely Fantasy / Space Opera/ Just ask any dedicated trekkie how warp engines work. Now ask the same question to a SW fan....

Star Trek was my first love of the Sci-Fi world. Just spent some time watching the Orginal Series on Netflix for the first time in a really LONG time... still love it.

Star Wars.... Well why can't I love both.
