Could I splice a broken AT&T 9700 to work on sprint?

Like remove the LCD and apply a CDMA Radio after altering the OS to agree with my 8330's radio?

Like put switch the GSM Radio with CDMA?

I think Sprint has a deal right now that if you bring in any BB smartphone they will give you a discount on a new BB. So you could take the 9700 in and get a 9650. Would be much cheaper and much easier than what your wanting to do.

As for your question, Radius answered that perfectly.

A RIM Engineer might be able to do it, but even then it probably would not work well AND it's unlikely, Sprint would add the ESN number to the database.

that deal will translate any berry to cost 50 dollars. Which is lame.

How about the guts of the phone. Could I move the 9700 ram onto the 8330??
    And processor?
I have read on the site someone doing that with a bold and tour.
I am asking this for 2 reasons.

    I can have Unique phone.
    And a better phone.

    Last Q.

Is the 9000 screen the same as the 9700 screen.
If yes can the same be done with the lower quality screen?

And camera? Or would the OS just reject everything I said above?

Also please give me the 5.0 for 8330m.
    I want it. .
    Please sprint?

A hardware change is a no, that's it. No.

Not even the most skilled people can do it successfully 100% of the time. I know what I am talking about as I work in the industry (micro electronics).

    So just no.

I thought the bold processor in a Tour was pretty much disproven in that thread.

Even if the pin-outs did the same thing on each processor, it would still be nearly impossible, and then there's the matter of writing the OS to work with it.

The issue is the actual change in hardware. The pads the chips sit on are very delicate and generally can't handle a lot of rework. Take a chip off and you risk permanently damaging the PCB.

Wire adds are fine, but a very poor solution in the long run.

Like I said RIM could do it, but us regular folks, even the most skilled among us, it just won't work. And generally RIM has teams of people doing it and it takes them many months, and MUCH R & D!

EDIT: a 16 year old, with limited skills and an even more limited budget, REALLY doesn't have a chance!
