Lol....it's been all over the news today.... flip phones may be making a comeback. Well, it made me think that maybe that's not a bad thing. The ability to simply send and receive calls may actually be a good thing....and I, for one would welcome it....HOWEVER -

Let's talk specs.....aside from the basic operations, I would want the ability to tether the phone at LTE speeds, so that I could have a tablet, phablet, or other smartphone for all my apps...that way, I could have the great battery life of a basic phone, and the social and email apps that I need for everyday use.

Who knows....the old Pearl may gain some traction...lol.

    Thoughts?

Loved my motorola flip but it was mono screen lol, would be kinda neat to have today's specs including a bigger screen on a 2015 star tac

Lol. A brief comeback. Probably. But yeah I can see some folks getting tired of the expense of a smartphone. The battery worries. The fragility off the screens.

I saw an article that talked about how a lot of celebrities are going back to flips for security reasons. Not sure why BlackBerry isn't all over that. Missing a real opportunity.

Yeah so are wood stoves... just saying. this is more a sensational story for the sake of being different. No one is going back to a flip phone. The people who already are there may keep it longer but that would have been true anyway.

I think it's the "non-smart" phone that is making a comeback for security reasons, not so much the flip form factor.

We bought a simple prepaid flip phone for the house, for when we go out and leave our kids at home (for the record they are in their teens).

I have to say that sometimes I pick it up and long for the "good old days" When a phone was just a phone and not a tether to work. But honestly, when I think of all the devices my smartphone has replaced (GPS, camera, notebook/address book/calendar, just to name a few) that I no longer have to carry around, I really doubt I could ever go back to just a simple flipphone.

CBS news article...calls them more obsolete than a BlackBerry. That's where they put BB in the US, just ahead of flip phones?
