glass of cold water when the craving hits, chew gum, and sometimes a good fun game helps to keep you distracted, provided you dont get mad. lol
good luck and hope it helps

Thank you. I tried the gum thing till my jaw hurt lol...but ill try the water trick.
What device (s) do you have? How about a new BB Game? Brain Cube is great. What's the one for the PlayBook with the ball rolling thru the tubes . . . Tunnel Tilt I think. Either of those, or there are plenty of other great choices - and my 9900 and PB are tools for work! (but I need the occasional distraction)
you just have to get in the right frame of mind. i smoked for 19 years and a couple times i quit cold turkey...once for almost 1 year. but i have been smoke free now for nearly 7 years. what i would tell myself was "im not trying to quit...i have quit." then start using the time that you have gone smoke free as further motivation, like "i've gone 3 days...why start now?" the first week is the toughest but you just have to stay positive. but what i did this time to quit was i went to one of those ads you see in the paper for hypnosis to lose weight & quit smoking. it cost me $40 and was well worth it. bottom line is: you just gotta want to quit! good luck.
Have you tried the electronic vapor cigs? Still get the nicotine but non of the other bad stuff and still satisfies the habit of hand to mouth.
I have tried one of those. I didnt like it
Last year I tried one and didn't like it either as it barely gave any vapor. I recently tried again and this one gives a good amount of vapor and is more satisfying.
Hey!
I "quit" smoking 6 years ago, after smoking for 4(i smoked more than 20 cigs a day - i was very addicted. Very!)
I used a nicotine patch for about a week(the treatment was to be one month though).
After the cravings stopped( after stopping the nicotine patches) i started chewing gum like crazy. It helped, but also damaged my stomach...
Another thing i did was to mentalize myself that i would only was going to quit smoking on a daily basis and allow myself to smoke when drunk or when at a party... The anxiety was less, because i knew and still know that i can smoke without beeing addicted again.
It helps alot, since im only drunk once a month(or less).
But still, my stomach is not so good...
So, nicotine patches and gum on the first month, and then, go easy on the gums, for your health...
That's my story :p

I quit cold turkey a little over six years ago. I smoked about a dozen cigarettes
per day for years. There were three things that helped me:
1) Start date - Decide on a day you will start. Do NOT waver from this date.
2) Reason to quit - Mine was my overall health, and my new grandson.
3) Incentive - For every day I did not smoke I put $3.60 in a jar. At the end of two
years when the jar was full I had about $2,600 saved.
I've been using an ecig (not the disposable kind, check out e-cigarette-forum.com to find out where to get started... there's A LOT of options). It's not quitting, but I haven't had a cigarette since I got it and my nicotine intake is way down from a PAD of newps.
I have an X2 battery with CE cartomizers from smokelessimage, definitely worth checking out.
If youre really trying to quit, take a vacation. Getting away from your day to day routines that involved cigarettes will make it much easier.
Lots of Nicotine gum and movement. Don't sit around keep moving take a walk do something. Take tylenol pm for help with sleep. Make it 3 days and it's downhill.
I've been smoke free for almost 18 years now. You need to come up with a reason why you are quitting and keep reminding yourself of it. I quit cold turkey but have heard a lot of people have success with the hypnosis thing HJ mentioned.
