- I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this, or if the moderators are going to get mad at me, and i don't particularly care. I need to get this off of my chest.
I am fairly new to this forum, and message boards in general, and I have noticed an annoying trend. The "reprimand" post.
You have all read these, and i'm sure some of you have written them. These are the "this topic was covered in such and such a thread three years ago" and "i'm tired of post like this" posts.
Get over yourselves. Not everyone has the time to search through every last post to find an answer to their question. Sometimes folks want to post a quick question, get on with their lives, and check back for an answer at their convinience. So please, for the love of God, stop with that nonsense. It's annoying and rude.
Second, the "i'm tired of people saying this or that" posts. If you're tired of a topic then don't open a thread that is CLEARLY labled with that topic. DUH.
I'm so glad that's off my chest.06-20-08 03:03 PMLike 0 - Is that not what you just did with this post? LOL Sorry couldnt hekp it!!! But on a serious note it does get kind of annoying to read the same question by 10 different people everyday. Searching is not that hard or time consuming at all. Also, I would follow your own advice and not post about things you dont like!06-20-08 03:08 PMLike 0

There seems to be a contingent of message board bullys who think that because they spend every waking moment posting they have the right to control the boards. This board belongs to all of the members and I'm sure the ops are more than capable of policing.06-20-08 03:54 PMLike 0 - Unfortunatly for your argument I think the folks at Crackberry (ie. the mods) dont really mind these types of threads as they are allowed to go up and stay up. As you are the first (to my recolection) to make such a statement I would think you are in the minority.06-20-08 03:59 PMLike 0

And again, another fallacy. My argument in no way hinges on the ops' opinions. I do not even mention how they may or may not feel about these types of posts. I assetered that I feel that they can police the boards fine and the board bullys are not necessary. I suggest perhaps a course in logic, or perhaps critical thinking.Last edited by jamesbecker1; 06-20-08 at 04:05 PM.
06-20-08 04:03 PMLike 0 - chaz_cbRetired Forums ModeratorI have been a member here for over 9 months, and A) I have never "reprimanded" anyone for not searching for their answer, and B) have answered many, many, many duplicate questions. It seriously doesn't bother me at all. With the constant influx of new members, and new Blackberry owners, repeat questions are to be expected. It's simply a matter of everyone learning at their own pace, possibly not being familiar with how forums work, and just being anxious to get a solution to their problem. I just try to help as many people as I can, to the best of my ability/experience.06-20-08 04:04 PMLike 0
- amazinglygracelessRetired ModDude, seriously, let it go.
Yup, I am guilty of a "transgression" or nine.
But, you know what. It happens. Does not make
any one a bully or superior or better than anyone
else. Sometimes people are just not at their best.
And every time I have strayed, yes, I apologize
to those I need to and we all just move on.
Think of CB or any other forum as a dysfunctional
family. We ain't perfect, but we are here for each other.
Yup, we b itch and moan at the 85th same question
in a single day, but you know what, all 85 of those
people get their answer. I cannot tell you how many
times I have typed options > advanced options > host routing tables >
press menu > select register now, and your browser will come back.
But I suspect it makes up more than half of my post count.
Now with that said, if you still have misgivings about
the nature of the people here, this is not the only BB forum.

Seriously, get over yourself.06-20-08 04:12 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModDude, I don't bully anyone, and I would like to think I have been more helpful than not. Very rarely do I ever say Search the forums, I simply post an answer.
And if bully is your opinion of me so be it, I am confident that you are truly in the minority. Doesn't matter, however, because it is your opinion, and I am not going to spend time trying to change it. I think I have made positive contributions to this community, If you don't, I am still going to sleep the sleep of the righteous.06-20-08 04:18 PMLike 0 - I agree partially. Certain topics are covered in detail and are easy to find. I think people should use the search function first to see if they can find a post, but I don't think it's necessary to make them search in detail and spend a lot of time doing it. Try a couple quick searches, and if you can't find it, then make a new post. Chances are if you can't find it too quickly, then it's probably an old post. If you can't find it on the first 2-3 pages, then post a new one. Using search isn't that hard, but it's not always convenient, and sometimes even though sometimes a question has been asked before, it's not the same situation that person may be in and needs a different answer. It's also not that hard to answer the questions usually...and if it's been asked before, then you should know the answer and be able to reply quickly and get on with your life without getting bent out of shape because someone else had the nerve to ask a simple question. haha06-20-08 04:20 PMLike 0
- chaz_cbRetired Forums ModeratorAll of these "new member" threads never end well, with "veteran" VS "newbie" going at it, so I suggest we just agree to disagree, answer questions if you want to or can, and ignore the posts that seem to bother you. If you don't feel like answering, someone will, soon enough. 200,000+ people aren't ALL going to get along all of the time, but we sure can try.06-20-08 04:26 PMLike 0
