So a week or so ago i put a craigslist ad up for a ball python. I have decided on a snake, and will be picking it up tomorrow. However, someone emailed me about a snake, and i want to know what everyone else thinks of this. At first I was full out "omglolscammer" but the more the person talks the less scam-ish it seems. Maybe i'm just an ***** and i'm falling for it. Here is the thread of emails...

(you dont HAVE to read these, but if you skip over, read the pros and cons)

i have one to give to any lovely and caring family that will take good care and attention as their own kids
How old is the snake? And do you charge a rehousing fee of any kind?

    hello
thanks for the mail our problem is not money but to see the pythons in good home so we are going to ship both pythons for 100$ that is each pythons will cost you 50$ if that is o.k mail us back for recent pic and what to do next
thanks and waiting for your reply
Would I be able to see the pythons before buying? And I only want one
    Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
    hello
thanks for the mail now that you want one of the pythons you will have to choose from the pic bello so as soon as i get your full delivery address i will take the pythons to the nearest airport and register a floight for them using the name and address that you will provide
    full names.....................?
    house address..............?
    zip code.......................?
    phone number.......................?
    nearest airport to your home..............?
with this address we are go to take them to the airport and get them register you can call us using my husband phone number +#########
    waiting
They attached images as well (which are at the bottom of the thread)

Usually when they ask for the house address I get suspicious. But the phone number was also included. I never took the time to call but it made me wonder

    Anyway,

I'm not giving out any money until the snakes are in my hands. I am also not giving my address out to somebody i don't know. If these snakes are for sale, give me a meeting time and place.
    hello
as i said we do not need your money all we want is just the best home for this pythons we are asking your address so that we can use it to ship the pythons to you and when you have the pythons at your home then you can now sent back our money try to understand that .and again we are not forcing you to buy the pythons if you want the pythons that is the only way we can ship the pythons to you buy using your address to register a flight for the pythons ?? so which of the pythons do you want to take home?? so that we can arrange to take the next available flight
if you don't mind me asking....where are you located?
    hello
thanks for the mail and your kindness toward this pythons once again i really appreciate the interest that you have for this pythons i promise you that i will do any thing possible to see that you have this pythons in your home if an only you can trust me and count on me we are located in Cameroon just about 6 to 7h flight so if we have this info

    full names.....................?
    house address..............?
    zip code.......................?
    phone number.......................?
    nearest airport to your home..............?
then we shall proceed with the pythons to the airport here get the puppy register using your names and address and sent the pythons to you and when you receive the python you can now sent our money
    waiting for your reply
Again, they are pressing hard to get my house address...

Bonne, gotta be honest... I feel like your trying to scam me
Decided to be completely honest and see what their response would be

    hello
all i want fro you is just your trust am every thing will work out just get to me with the info and i take the pythons now to the airport immediately and when i finish with the flight reservation the airport will contact you via phone or email to give the flight details of thge python
Why are you selling the snakes?
i have secure a new job and for that reason i will not have enough time for the pythons that is why i am selling them
So you are selling them but not asking for money
i am not asking for money because i want you to trust me o.k as soon as the python arrive your home you can then sent my money i am doing that just because i am not interested in money but a good home for them so i trust you so much that i will sent the pythons to you and when it arrive safely then you can sent my money o.k
I see. Well can I have a few days to think on this? Ill get back to you on what I decide
o.k i will be waiting to read from. once again thanks you for your understanding and fee free to ask me any question when necessary

Now, this is really confusing me. The person is doing some things many scammers would do, but at the same time it doesn't sound like a scammer.

    against her -
    She is from Cameroon
She is pressing for my house address

    for her -
she is not asking for money before i get the snakes
she gave me a phone number (i dont know what to think about that)
she also wasn't afraid to let me know she is in africa

I would have dropped this a long time ago...then i saw the snakes.

    This is the first snake

    And the second

beautiful snakes, with a very rare patten on them as well.

So give me your opinion. If i'm a dumbass for taking it this far, let me know. if you think its worth a shot, let me know that as well.

You probably shouldn't post other peoples phone numbers.

on their front page, they say this

"Does somebody want to transfer millions of dollars into your account?
Does someone want you pay you to cash cheques and send them the money?
Met a new friend/penpal on a friendship/dating site who's asking you for money?
Has a dying person contacted you wanting your help to give his money to charity?
Have you sold an item and are asked to accept a payment larger than the item amount?
    IT'S A SCAM!"

but i'm not able to say yes to any of those.

"then we shall proceed with the pythons to the airport here get the puppy register using your names and address and sent the pythons to you and when you receive the python you can now sent our money "

Puppy?! Sounds like a scam to me. She keeps repeating the same info over and over, which is typical. Once I was looking for an apt 3000 miles from where I lived, and it was a similar situation, dude contacted me, said he was out of the country, but could arrange for his "associate" to let us view the apt, and we could send him money later, etc. He kept emailing me the same emails, over and over, in response to my questions, and it just got to be too ******** and I told him I wasn't interested in his scam.

Anyhow, if you are comfortable giving all that information to a complete stranger, that you have never actually talked to, then go for it. Just seems weird that they are so willing to send you these snakes, because they "trust you" (again, you are complete strangers) and they "don't care about the money" yet it's got to cost a fortune to send SNAKES ON A PLANE. Is that even legal? Is Samuel L Jackson going to have to intervene?

Personally, I'd try to find something in the US. Having an exotic pet isn't worth having your identity stolen and used for who-know-what. Trust your instincts, and like others said, if it SEEMS like a scam... you're probably right.

    Just my opinion.
