    Hey guys,

I have a very simple worksheet that needs to be completed. I have what I think to be true about RIM and how they operate as an organization, but would appriciate any additional help.

Below I have listed the Dimensions... just pick the one you think fits RIM and by what % if you want to get more technical!

    1. Low Formalization to High Formalization
    2. Low Specialization to High Specialization
    3. Flat Hierarchy to Tall Hierarchy
    4. Product Technology to Service Technology
    5. Stable Environment to Unstable Environment
    6. Strong Culture to Weak Culture
    7. Low Professionalism to High Professionalism
    8. Goals Not Defined to Well-Defined Goals
    9. Small Size to Large Size
    10. Post-Modern to Modern

How much do you really know about RIM?

Sorry for any confusion... WS is not well questioned!

If you think that RIM has a higher formalization than a lower one, but not quite the whole works you cold list....

    1. 7
    2. 9
    3. 6
    and so on...

Basically looking at each one from a scale 1-10 for each number, 1 being the highest for the dimension on the left to 10 being the highest for the one on the right!

WoW this is more difficult to explain than I though
Someone please understand so I can say I asked other people, haha

Basically all of this is in your own opinion....

#8 for example, You believe RIM has very well-defined goals then rank #8 at a 9 or 10!

    Does anyone understand?

I understand what you are asking, but you may not get a lot of response. I would *guess* that most folks on here, as much as they love their BBs and admire RIM, cannot speak knowledgeably about their organizational structure(s) or corporate culture. Definitions may also be misconstrued and answers will most likely be quite subjective, which one would expect with this type of "survey".

All that said, there may be current or past RIM employees or other folks with significant knowledge of the company that lurk or are members here. Unfortunately, I am not one of them.

7 - 1. Low Formalization to High Formalization
7 - 2. Low Specialization to High Specialization
2* - 3. Flat Hierarchy to Tall Hierarchy
*i believe RIM is setup where regular Joe's at the company, can speak to and mingle with higher ups. You guys think I'm right?
5* - 4. Product Technology to Service Technology
*seems right in the middle doesn't it?
6* - 5. Stable Environment to Unstable Environment
*mustve ben very unstable over there releasing a phone (the storm) that they knew wasn't ready!
2 - 6. Strong Culture to Weak Culture
9 - 7. Low Professionalism to High Professionalism
    9 - 8. Goals Not Defined to Well-Defined Goals
3 - 9. Small Size to Large Size
    1* - 10. Post-Modern to Modern
*If you mean (in #10) post modern as in "breaking the mold" of the ordinary then 1 is my answer.
