By all means though to the OP, why do you care if I choose to live my life "brainwashed"?

I wish you would take the time to read a little bit better. I said I DO NOT have a problem with people practicing religion and most can function in society normally. Its the ones on the far right.

I think I made that very clear. Again I have no problem at all with folks like you. Do your thing.

Because it means that you are inferior and that makes everyone else feel better about themselves. You should try it. Put someone down. It can be a Muslim or an atheist or a gay person. Tell them how wrong they are and mock them. You'll feel better.
you obviously have not been on the receiving end of their words have you? Tell you what until you experience it, hear it or on the receiving end of it you should keep quiet.

    hope this helps

I have some more tolerance to shower upon you all and we get the added bonus of a Bible quote to go along with it. This was just taken from the thread that spawned this one. it was just posted today.

    I hope you all enjoy.

Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve!!!

Genesis 2:24 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh."
Some more great teachings have just come in. Yeahman did you get your notebook out? There's a lot of info to digest here. Notice the word destroyed. It's a little more palatable than KILLED or MURDERED. Adam and Eve mentioned again, interesting. When does the talking snake appear? The suspense is killing me.

The Bible does speak against homosexuality and that is one of the reason for which Sodom and Gamorrah were destroyed.

Sin seperates us from God who in all essence is pure and righteous. We were born into sin because of "Adam and Eve" and through blood of Christ shed on the cross cleansed and saved if we so choose to accept and believe. (Free Will)

People deserve the right to free speech but they shouldn't impose their beliefs on people that don't care to hear it, but with free speech you gotta take the good with the bad... Yes I agree that the majority of them are blind and hypocritical in different ways but they don't know any better. If someone fully believes in something, let em, more power to ya...just don't bathe my senses in it

I do love the concept of original sin. I didn't even do a damn thing and I popped out a sinner. God didn't even give me a chance. He just slapped me on the as* with a great big S. What a drag.

Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:25-28 - "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself."

The whole passage (Ephesians 5:22-28) is about the relation between a husband and wife. It said that the wife to submit to the husband but in turn the husband must be will to sacrifice himself for his wife... maybe if more people followed these verses we wouldn't have a 50% divorce rate in the US

The Bible thumpers. You know the type. They believe in some magical place called heaven and the fiery pits of helll. They beleive that all non-beleivers will be banished to helll unless you accept Jesus Christ as your savior. They judge, they condemn, they divide, they quote a sacred book they believe is Gods word and anyone who does not share their beliefs must be saved. They may not do it to your face but when you turn around be sure they are praying for your little lost soul.
WOW dude! I am not a "Bible Thumper" by any sane definition... I drink, smoke, gamble, watch porn, cuss, etc, etc... but according to you rant I am a Bible Thumper....

I know I have been saved by the GRACE of GOD and when I die I will live forever in paradise with Him... It is my sincerest hope and prayer that all non-believers will one day to God a repent of their sins so they too can be saved and avoid eternal damnation. While my actions here on earth may not be the most Christ-like I know that when I confess my sins all will be forgiven...

"For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD" - Romans 3:23... I know that I'm a sinner I sinned in the bar last night... I sinned in class this morning... I'll sin again, probably before finishing this post... But I know that I have been redeemed and forgiven...

Do I disagree will gay marriage and homosexuality? Absolutely! Is it a choice? Absolutely!... "

Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman" - Lev 18:22

Do I hate those who choose to participate in it? NOPE! I do however pray for them that they too will one day know the Lord Jesus Christ as the savior.

And lastly to the OP I'll pray for you...that you to will one day know the grace of God

If you feel that way then I truly am sorry for you.... The Trinity... the Farther (God), son (Jesus) and spirit are indeed real and following the words and teachings of Christ is the only way to avoid eternal damnation. The thing is though your mind will not be changed over the internet and certainty not in this forum... as said before i will pray for you that one day you will repent and know the true joy that only comes from Jesus Christ.

That's a good question nut thank-you for asking.

For lack of a better word I think God, Allah, Buddha or whatever one wants to call it is a universal consiousness. To name it diminishes it. So I will use that name.

Its everything and nothing at the same time. It is in every living thing in the universe. It cannot be destroyed or die. It has always been and will always be.

Its not seperate from us because it is us. It needs nothing because it is everything. There is nothing else here but it. If this consiousness were the ocean we would be all the little waves. "seperate" but still a part of the whole.

    Its pure perfection.

I do not believe in the notion that "God" is out there somewhere needing us to live by rules and to worship "him". To me that's ego based and a construct of man. We don't need to go to some building to worship it or praise it or ask its forgiveness.
It does not stand in judgment of us and it doesn't keep score (good deeds/bad deeds)

    It is pure UNCONDITIONAL love.

You see that's why people had to come up with religion. When the truth is out there is never a need to fear "God." We can do whatever we please without fear of some punishment. As horrible the acts of Hitler he is not in some place called ****. That may be hard for some to hear but its true.

That doesn't mean we should go around killing one another and living in chaos either. If we do that we will have to pay the price of being punished by the courts or what have you.

There must be dark to know light. There must be hate to know love. There must be cold to know hot. This experience we are having here is the only way this consiousness can experience itself. Through us.

Imagine something that will love you no matter what you do say or choose and will NEVER turn its back on you. That's the type of "god" I believe in.

    Hope that answered your question.

separation from church n the govt. some people are forgetting about this!
From someone who loves history the whole separation of church is state is not even in the Constitution. Jefferson wrote a letter, in it he use the phrase SCS. He also went on to write that, they should coexist but one should not be over the other.

Just a few things NOT found in the bible (thus NOT a bible teaching, but an invention of religion):

--he77 is a place of fiery torment
    --The trinity
    --Intolerance

One must seperate "Christianity" and "religion" from truth. Just because someone declares themselves a Christian does not mean they speak from a standpoint of bible knowledge. Baloon appears to have had at least a cursory reading of the bible. He has probably read more than most people who identify themselves as Christians or seek to "enlighten" others. It is very sad that a general ignorance pervades evangelical practitioners (aka bible thumpers). My firm belief is most who practice bible thumping should spend more time reading the bible and less time thumping it.

RE: some old testament passages quoted out of context that sound so abrasive to our ears (rape, killing, etc.). Keep in mind the purpose of some of these commands - They were written for a nation (Israel) that was being used to "cleanse" (kill, destroy) nations that did what God determined to be immoral. The nation of Israel was directed to do battle with the land of Canaan (sp?). Israel mostly wiped out these people. A law code (the Mosaic) was given to that nation to govern nearly every aspect of life. When Jesus came on the scene he taught that that his followers would not be under obligation to the Mosaic law. He gave a new set of commands to his followers. A Christian today is NOT supposed to follow the Mosaic law or the intolerance practiced by warring Israel. Rather he is to follow a different set of standards and principles, those taught by Jesus. A few are: "love your neighbor" ... "do unto others" ... "judge not, lest you be judged..."

A true Christian would not be dogmatic or unyielding (traslation: bible thumper). A true Christian does have a command to preach and teach and attempt to make disciples. However, the pattern for how to accomplish this was set by Jesus himself. A thorough reading of the gospel account shows him to be mild-mannered and approachable. Children approached him. He was angry and aggressive on a few occasions - every one of those occasions are where we see Jesus confronting religious practicioners of his day who were hypocritical and abused their positions as religious teachers.

So, the pattern left by Jesus was to be kind, tactful, considerate and appraochable. The religious right are NOT kind, tactful, considerate and approachable. They do NOT speak from a standpoint of bible knowledge. They do NOT represent Jesus or his teachings correctly. This turns people off to religion in general. As well it should.

Baloon - please don't lump all of those who believe in the God of the Bible and try to follow the teaching of Jesus and try to educate others on bible truths together with nut jub evangelists. Don't think that if someone is a bible believer they are intolerant, ignorant, or judgemental. God and the bible don't teach that - religion does.

More people have been killed in the name of God, Jesus, and religion than anything else. But if I do something horrible and claim to do it in your name does that make you evil? No, of course not. So, please I urge you Baloon (and anyone else subscribing to Baloon's ideas) Read Matthew 7:13-23. to paraphrase, this says: Only a few people will practice Christianity correctly. most people will go along thinking they're doing good, but they're not. Look at what kind of product a person produces to figure out if they really represent Jesus. Some may even delude themselves into thinking they are pleasing to Jesus and God. But, they aren't.

Most organized religion is bad. God and the bible aren't.

Just FYI, many historians say that there is evidence that Jesus Christ existed as a man. Whether or not one believes that he is part of the Holy Trinity is a separate issue.

Religion has no place in politics and the tenacity that the religious right uses to inject their agenda into the political arena is shameful.

The irony of religious nuts claiming to be christian is rich. Jesus himself said, "my kingdom is no part of this world." if the kingdom that they pray for is "no part of this world" then why are they involved in politics? You can't be more "part of this world" than being involved in politics.

Have you heard of the book of revelation??? It definitely paints the picture that he ll is a place of fiery torment, and gnashing of teeth.

The father son and the holy spirit. The term trinity may never be mentioned in the bible, but the father son and holy spirit def. are.
