I'll second pretty much any album from the following bands... 'Tallica, DMB, Floyd, NIN, Foo Fighters. Also, no one mentioned The Smashing Pumpkins, who have more amazing music out as B sides than most bands release period.
But here's some amazing albums that not everyone knows about...
Counting Crows - August & Everything After. I can listen to this album at any time and while in any mood.
Silversun Pickups - Carnavas. Sort of what SP may have sounded like if they came out today and from Cali, not Chicago.
Nirvana - Unplugged in New York. Amazing album letting Kurt show his knowledge of music and playing some very non-Nirvana-esque songs.

Besides, Now a Days "CDs" and "Albums" are used interchangeably.
I can't remember the last time I went to best buy or circuit city and paid retail for anything entertainment wise when the internet is cheaper, environmentally friendlier, and just much easier. I'm not judging anyone to each their own.
