I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. I know that puts knots in some folks panties too. Maybe a moderator can move it to the right spot? I don't know if I can do that. I only come to these forums to find out how to fix the crap that goes wrong with this phone.

I have a blackberry Tour since launch day 2 years ago and I'm loving every minute of it. No battery issue, click issues, no need to reboot unless I install new apps. I'm looking to go another 2 year before upgrading since there's nothing out there that interest me or is a worthy upgrade from the Tour. Be warn though, I upgraded to 1030 and notice some random reboot so I downgraded and all is fine. That's about the only issue I had.

Its unfortunate the OP had to suffer through all of that and I don't blame her to be upset. With all of the excellent reviews of the Tour from different publication is why you probally got the Tour like all of us. But with every good product, there will be a few lemon ones. I hope she think it through and give BB another chance since it is an exceptional phone.

Are you a Blackberry Tour? Cause I don't recall "attacking" anyone. Just don't like my phone dude. Seems I'm not the only one. Sorry if you felt attacked. I wasn't trying to hurt or injury anyone. Where did you come up with that? I'm harping on the phone and its makers. Calling the product worthless. That's the problem with these forums. People take it way too personal. Its a freaking phone. Blackberry or iphone or android or windows phones are not worth half the trouble that people put into them.

To answer pcgizmo, I am actually going to a VZW iphone, wife just got me an ipad to go with my imac. So its a logical choice.

To all that were emotionally scarred from my hateful hurtful comments: MAN UP!

You didn't attack anyone? In one post you compared Blackberry users to followers of satan!
I have greatly enjoyed reliable use of my Tour to browse the web, play games and execute useful apps. I also play stereo bluetooth in my vehicle using Pandora and the media player on my phone. People who have had trouble with this phone have had legitimate bad experiences. I even had trouble at one point. I concede that. After I got a replacement, I have not had any more issues. The ease of use and consistency of the operation of the OS between Blacberry devices is for me, the reason that I will not go to another manufacturer. I do however regularly upgrade my OS. I am a more technically savvy user and I carefully consider technical purchases.

The consistent quality, reliability and ease of use of Blackberry is the reason I will stay with Blackberry. The iPhone is the only phone that even comes close to a viable alternative in my opinion and the fact that it does not come with a memory card slot is a big deal to me. Why would such an amazing device not have one? I don't feel that it has better apps either. It probably does have a better display though and that is not reason enough to buy one.

Like I said, some people just don't get it. I have to go now. I need to make a post on the iPhone forums website because I am bored and have a weird need to stir something up.

I will say this: If our wireless carrier market were more like Europe where phones are not locked into a particular carrier, we would see better and higher quality phones available sooner and cheaper. I believe this is the underlying reason that we have seen quality issues with Blackberry devices in the past couple of years. I do not have the experience with other phones (except Motorola) to speak about the quality of other manufacturers. I personally will never own another Motorola phone again. That is for certain.

I am not compairing Blackberry users to Satan worshipers. I was merely stating that ANYTHING and EVERYONE has a fan base. People also follow Jesus, Wal-mart, pornography, cars, guns... I would think you would get my point but clearly you do not.

Now I am going to be accused of being a Wal-mart worshiper and a porn addict? What I WAS saying about the brand is that it has a strong base of fans and followers who would sooner stay and deal with the problems that a blackberry has before they would think to trade in for something else, better or worse.

The use of Satan was merely to illustrate that no matter what the subject is, it has followers. Satan was used because he is what some may consider to be the lowest of low and a picture of evil in this world, yet some mortals aim to emulate him and worship him. So, if people can worship something so bad it is not, in any stretch of the imagination, impossible for society as a whole to worship or follow as a fan base ANYTHING.

Do me a favor and try not to take it personal or read into it too much there Thuoudo. It is people like you on these forums who disect others posts and read between the lines that causes others to join the "this guy MUST be an *****" band wagon. I am already behind the 8 ball because I said something negative about the almighty blackberry.

I've had the BlackBerry 9630 for two years now. I can't say it's been a pleasure. Hardware issues at release.

Plethora of software (official OS's only) for the next year. Went through 3 Tours. This one has been good for 9 months though, pretty stable. Still have the signal flux issue but I gave up on a fix for that.

I probably would recommend the Tour for anyone coming from a non smart phone. But other than that, I'm not thrilled with all the issues I've been through with it.

Not sure I'll ever buy a RIM product again.

I've been using the Tour since Dec. '09 without to much of a problem. I say that because about six months after I got my first one the trackball quit working and Sprint had to send me a refurb. I don't know why refurbs get such a bad rap because mine has worked flawlessly for the past 9 months. I have had certain issues with the different OS's I've tried, some had the browser click issue, some I had problems with random reboots. I'm currently running Sprints .484, which has been the most stable and luckily I saved a copy onto my PC because it is no longer available from the Sprint site. Sure there are features I wish the Tour had like wifi and a trackpad, but it doesn't, and I knew that when I bought it. I still enjoy using my Tour everyday.

This has certainly been an entertaining thread!

To the OP: I understand your point of view, tho I have never had a Tour. I had an 8830, bricked it and learned how to fix it. I got a 9650 and had an issue with the keyboard. My CARRIER replaced it without hesitation. I've upgraded the replacement and have been happy with it. That has been MY experience.

That said, some people have waaay too much time on their hands, IMHO, and can't stand to see the object of their desire/fascination not praised as they so praise. It's kinda like the Microsoft vs Mac battles, or Linux vs. Mac vs Windows.

Get a smartphone that works for you. Some individual units are junk. That's the nature of mass production of electronic devices. My phone is set up with programs that work for me. I have it automatically reboot every night while I sleep, as it charges. That works for ME. Far be it for me to tell you what works for you....unfortunately, only you can figure that out through trial and error.....if you are one who finds that the time spent to figure that out is worth it. Some people are willing to do that, and others either aren't willing or aren't capable of that or simply just want a phone to do everything under the sun, right out of the box!

I use my phone for email, calls, text messages and occasionally just wasting time because I am bored. I rarely use it to surf the 'Net, because I have a laptop and a desktop computer with a MUCH faster browser and MUCH bigger screen..............that is what works for me.

But I realize some people live on their phones. I don't really comprehend the sense in that, but then, I really couldn't care less, because, again, that's not what works for me. (Btw, I'm the only one in my family with a berry, though my wife's cousin and her hubby have matching Torches. My son has a 'droid and loves it. My wife and daughter have LG dumb phones that meet their needs. My other son has an ipod touch that is jailbroken, and he loves it.)

    So, to each is/her own.

    Flame on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you only use your phone for email, calls and text then why not get a non smart phone? My husbands LG Cosmos does all that for $41/month. You could save a lot of $$$!

I can't see having a smart phone and not using the browser, apps, and all the other features.

Now, I can understand your issues, but the only reason my BlackBerrys have had faults (minus this one where the trackpad randomly locked up, Carphone Warehouse happily took it in and said yeah we'll get it fixed for you at no charge) is because I've quite literally thrown them across buildings. That's a cheap ****ty badly built Curve 8520 too... 15ft drop onto HARD floor, it still worked as if nothing had happened. Had I done that with an iPhone, you bet it would have smashed into pieces.

While I understand your frustrations, you should have done your homework first. Also the fact that you posted the way you did show more of a cry of attention. You had a crappy Tour okay get over it live and learn. As someone said before these are mass produced there are hits and misses. Just like Ford and their rollover problem or Toyota and their unattended acceleration problem. My company vehicles, are all Toyota as well as personal Toyota/Lexus

The Tour is my 3rd & 4th (1 personal 1 business) BB I have owned the others was two Pearls with AT&T and switch to Sprint due to their prices and they had the Tour. I needed a BB that I could take overseas and basically work on every network out there. VZW also have the Tour, but I got a better deal w/Sprint.

Like another poster I own a small business where we all have BB on my company plan and until another company comes out with all the features I need their is no other choice for me. I am also shopping for tablets and while the Playbook seems like a no-brainer to an all BB company there are a lot of choices and options so who know we just might have iPad2s or an Andriod based tablet. It all depends on what fit my needs.

So while your opinion has been voiced, your anger is missed placed. Go to your carriers website as well as Blackberry's and rant and rave there cause doing it here is pointless.

BTW with websites like Amazon, TigerDirect, NewEgg, deals from Best Buy and others one can get a phone for $0.00 or cheaper than getting it straight from your carrier. Never pay full price for anything.

While I was disappointed that the Tour had no WiFi, its something I can live with. Happy hunting for your new phone and most likely new carrier as any new smartphone you get with Sprint is going to cost an extra $10 a month.

I have both the Bold & Tour but those smartphones didn't match my expectations for a smartphone. Mainly the poor web browing experience prohibiting me to get the most out of my costly data plan. I just went and switched to the iPhone once it came out for VZW and found the phone that perfectly fits my needs in a smartphone. I won't knock Blakberrys just because I thought they lacked in what I needed because they seem to fit a whole lot of others here who find Blackberrys a good phone for them.

Best thing to do is get a phone that fits your needs

The problem with your analogy was it could be taken multiple ways.

    1. BlackBerry = Satan, BB users = Satan's minions
    2. Even the worst things have followers

Now, knowing the trolling that occurs (rampantly) on this forum and due to things such as the title of this thread, which conclusion do you think most of us will reach first?

    When...
Now I am going to be accused of being a Wal-mart worshiper and a porn addict? What I WAS saying about the brand is that it has a strong base of fans and followers who would sooner stay and deal with the problems that a blackberry has before they would think to trade in for something else, better or worse.
...you could have just said this in the first place.

See, now here again you're digging a deeper hole. The first sentence was enough...the second sentence, again, sounds like you're comparing BB users to Satanists.

Doesn't matter what you mean to say...the analogy is poor.
Do me a favor and try not to take it personal or read into it too much there Thuoudo. "People like me"...lol. I wish I could start bandwagon trends--I'd be rich (well, if "a Twitter-like service" isn't trademarked that is).

The mantra on these forums seems to be: "Use whatever phone works best for you...as long as it's not a BlackBerry, because there's no way a BlackBerry is what's best."

I probably wouldn't go to the store and buy the Tour now (even if the Bold hadn't replaced it), and I am disappointed in the BB lineup these days, particularly at Verizon. However, even though I'm on my 4th one, I can still say that the phone has been kind to me. I've tried to switch to Android, but every time I go back to my Tour.

Plus, the Tour was pretty much the ish when it came out in July 09. It was great that VZW had a higher grade blackberry that wasn't all touch screen. It had all the features you could want in a smartphone at the time. So no, I probably wouldn't be happy if I had bought one before they fazed it out for the Bold, but for what I've had it for, it's been awesome.

I personally think you need to choose the right phone for your use and not blame the phone. This site has solutions for every problem answered at least 3x over for the Tour.

I'm a different kind of user:

    * I need mine for business
    * I need mine to work in multiple countries, all of the time
    * I need mine to take and send pics and receive data, all of the time
    * I need mine to work in the US, all of the time (Verizon)
    * I use opera mini if I need the internet on my phone
    * The only apps on mine are ESPN, Pandora (doesn't work outside of the US; XM in the vehicles) and Facebook (which I rarely use)
    * Like someone mentioned - if you drop the phone it will still work (great for when you're outside the US and you RELY on your phone)

My daughters want an iPhone, which would be great for them. I mainly see people using BB's and a small percentage of androids.

For me it's BB and Glock.
