England of course. Deep down I know they don't stand a chance. Never mind, my flags will be a waving and the beer will be a flowing.

Die Mannschaft ,or "Germany" for the uninitiated ,always has a good chance of doing well. Because of the oppressive climate, I think their measured approach will see them to at least the semi-finals.

Even I know names like Oranje, Three Lions and Mannschaft - and I know absolutely nothing about football. I don't even watch the world cup...

No self respecting Canadian can watch football when the Stanley Cup Finals are on. After the Stanley Cup I will tune in.

A pretty bad team. I'm rooting for Brazil, and the small Japan team

We do, although the only time they qualified for the World Cup they never scored a goal.

Germany is like a tank in my opinion. They just keep rolling through every barricade other teams throw at them....
Their problem is when they get cocky which is usually in the semi finals, and then they loose

    Keys to defeating Germany :

Germany's measured approach gets them far but if pressed by an equal team that is more creative then I see them faltering. Steady solid play against a defensively well organised team can frustrate. If that team has pace on the counterattack and can finish then watch out. The Real Madrid vs. FC Bayern model applies here.

Ok, add me to the Three Lions camp that hasn't got over the Lampart goal, errrr

I can only hope Costa Rica doesn't win a game. That way we won't lose ALL three.

    Australia and Germany for me.
    We won't forget that one:

Would have been a great follow up game in the finals, in fact a dream.

Italy is a worthy opponent, but not always nice to play against. Always great to see Italians excited about their team, such passion!

Anyway, Australia in Group B, that's killer. With Spain, NL and Chile. Ouch!

Ah the World Cup. The joy of wondering at which point England will lose on penalties this time. As we all know, penalties are a lottery, a 50/50 thing, which is why England have won one out of seven. That feeling of impending doom in the last couple of minutes of extra time, the joy on the faces of opposition fans who know that they're going to win because England collapse from 12 yards out...

The sheer delight on Scottish faces as the latest England player balloons it over the bar.

Yep, come on England. You've only let me down my entire life.
