- jenay; in the elections '08 thread you proposed Bono as McCain's running mate...that ticket would ROCK! :-). Although I must say, I don't think I'd be able to handle Bono saying something on the lines of, "I have been tapped by McCain as his running mate..."
there's no purge smilie?!?!

I know for myself whenever I take a job, I make sure that I have a clear understanding of the job description and duties that I will be responsible for and what the expectations are for someone in that position. Politicians should do the same...10-02-08 10:46 PMLike 0 -

10-02-08 10:54 PMLike 0 - Would anyone care to give me an objective review of the debate?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com10-02-08 10:57 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModSure, having gone into it open-minded these were my observations:
Biden was constantly on point, provided answers with the greater degree of
substance and detail.
He also stayed focused on John McCain and for the most part treated Palin
as an afterthought.
Palin on the other hand, was a question avoiding, talking point spewing
participant. She offered nothing of real substance and spent far too much time
trying to seem likable, cute and folksy.
All in all I think Biden whupped her a$$.10-02-08 11:03 PMLike 0 -
But you get the gist of what I was saying.

about that.10-02-08 11:10 PMLike 0 - I think what worried me most, was when asked what each VP would do in the event of their president's demise, was Palin's response. Biden basically said, look this is Obama's presidency and I would continue with what is most important with him. What she said was basically, well I am a maverick and McCain picked me because I have my own opinions about things.
Yikes... She has been a governor for 2 years and a mayor and a business owner... I guess that background worries me when she talks about doing her own thing and following her own opinions.
I have to also say, that this debate worried me a great deal. I knew going into this that Biden is going to win, he has more background and has a more extensive knowledge-base for this type of event. I was worried that he would debate in such a way that would make it seem like he is being insensitive. As a former debater, I found many points at which Biden could have really attacked Palin... but he showed a great deal of restraint and I respect that.
My humble opinion is that I saw nothing opinion changing in this debate. I think we are a polarized nation with 33 days left until the vote-this debate did not change minds. Palin didn't screw up and Biden didn't draw any WOW factors.
I call a draw.
*full disclosure* my hubby works for the office of the governor in alaska. So we are used to Gov. Palins style.10-02-08 11:11 PMLike 0 - I feel Biden knew what was expected of him from his insiders, pundits and himself (which was to have tuned self-restraint). He took that to heart (in an unbalanced way)...and didn't call-out Palin, didn't press her on answers to the questions being asked; when instead she pranced around the queries. It would have been much more beneficial had he done so. However, the bulk of the task of keeping the candidate in-line for the answer...should be practiced by the moderator; and I don't feel Gwen Eifel regulated the task effectively.
I considered the debate to be a draw as well...in the sense that neither candidate made a breakout from what has been perceived of them thus far. Think about it though...if in fact this is perceived to be a draw by the collective public as well; this works to Obama/Biden's favor...as Palin has been seen as shaky in the past few weeks. A draw would make her favorability...stagnant and unchanged at the moment. Now, it truly is up to the top of each ticket to go for the homestretch.10-02-08 11:17 PMLike 0 -
- Absolute train wreck. Disaster. Chaotic detonation of the campaign.
I'm a registered Republican, but I lean more toward a Libertarian point of view. For me, the debate tonight was a disaster. Sarah Palin is in over her head. Like, can't-see-the-sun-from-here over her head. She's completely clueless, makes things up in her speeches, and has no idea how to conduct herself on a national stage. She doesn't the the poise, the administrative expertise, or frankly the acumen (I believe) to be VP or President.
I'm supremely disappointed in the Republican ticket this year. I guess this is what I get for getting my hopes up that a *REAL* ticket might end up running, like Thompson-Paul (which, I am convinced, would have absolutely rocked.)
Although, I'll take a Maverick John and Caribou Barbie over a socialist, racist liberal and his loose-lipped-lackey any day.10-02-08 11:43 PMLike 0 - wow, its weird being in the midst of another individual who doesn't but into socialism...
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com10-03-08 02:23 AMLike 0 - zzzzz I got bored from it all after short bit... I put on Iron Man to watch. Then again typically anything with politics usually has me looking for a pillow and a place to sleep.10-03-08 02:28 AMLike 0

And as a side note, I keep meaning to watch Iron Man... BAH one of these days10-03-08 02:51 AMLike 0 - All I'd like to see is Palin take some politicians including McCain on a hunting trip and none of them coming back...10-03-08 03:12 AMLike 0

- Well just imagine her thinking they're all zombies and she's a cast of Resident Evil.
Besides Palin/McCain remind me of Anna-Nicole and that old rich guy.

- I'm totally anti-politics... it bores me on so many levels. But how people get so defensive about various politicians and take things so personal I find it funny beyond belief...
But in anycase, in regards to Obama...
Yeah it'd be nice to see a black president for a change instead of old white fossils that should be in a nursing home wheelchair bound. But obviously not him on various things I've heard about him from email arguments with various people I email with...
But to boil things down do any of them actually follow through on what they say on the road? Other than some minute detail that most would never notice.10-03-08 06:45 PMLike 0
