I'm interested in joining this forum too just have not had the time yet. I think it would be acceptable to have an unmoderated forum if it was clearly marked so no stragglers make their way in and are offended. Then I think everyone would be happy.

But I also understand that Crackberry has always been family-friendly too. It's obvious people can easily be offended and I certainly wouldn't want to be the cause of that.

Yeah, or even keep off-topic as it is, and have an option when you create the thread, to have it unmoderated. Then you can just have a different icon next to the threads that aren't Then the sensitive ones can stay out, keep them happy. The ones looking for a little more fun can have their threads, keep them happy And the moderators should have less(hopefually) problems with people in the threads Seems like a reasonable solution.

As a precaution, you could deny entry to guests and members under 18. If I remember correctly, I entered my date of birth when I signed up here so everyone could be monitored easily. And guests already can't do much of anything but look, seems like it would be easy to keep them out.

Like I said I certainly don't want to be the cause of anyone's disgust and don't want to be in hot water with anyone, member or moderator. I'm just posting my opinion and thoughts about an off-topic forum suggestion. I will say I don't feel like I can completely be myself here because of certain restraints (definitely not complaining, this site is unrivaled IMO) but I have no major qualms. I realize the site is not for gossip and chat but we all have something in common and it's undoubtedly a meeting place. Certain members also have more in common with others. In my eyes, it doesn't seem any different than starting a Business Users or Social Users forum, you're still segregating and people will flock accordingly. But of course, I like to swear and I'm so used to it I barely notice it anymore.

So, once again, just a suggestion. I would like to be a little more wily sometimes but I'm not going to break the rules just for a few dirty words.

I agree... And not to say that an unmoderated forum would be out of control. We're all still adults here... What in TBL would change? Same people, same topics, same humour

My/Ed's forums has two rules, DO NOT OUTRIGHT ATTACK OTHER MEMBERS, and no pornography

give you any example - There is are 2 posts for two themes on this site that i find offensive. HIGHLY offensive, but because i am who i am, and they are who they are NOTHING WILL BE DONE. And if i openly bash them on here, i get warned then get banned. you bad mouth a post you'll get warned and get banned and the truth of the matter is there is stuff that we don't like. But silencing our voice DOES NOTHING but drive people away. I personally had my post count SKY ROCKET i averaged almost 5 per day and since i got banned i think i may of posted a dozen time.....

Just so you are aware, the LGBT community is marketed to specifically by carriers. Blackberry is also a *brand*. Would you have closed this forum if it were composed to create a brand community among African Americans?

I didn't read the whole thread but a few of the other forums I'm on (car and motorcycle) in the off topic there is sub-forums for photography, gaming, sports, business and stocks, etc. I also think a home improvement sub-forum would be cool with tips and weekend type projects

Hey Kevin, here is my take on this.
The forum "Off-Topic" suggests everything not included in the other forums.
I would suggest changing off topic to "General Discussion" and having sub-forums within that.

MAIN FORUM
General Discussion - Treads for REAL discussions relating to politics, news, interesting topics, and basically discussion topics.
SUB FORUMS
--Off Topic - Fun posts, "game" posts (ban person above you, I hate thread), picture threads, etc.
--Games/Technology - Video Gaming, Computers, Tech Support, Etc
--Entertainment - Tv, Music, Movies, sports, and other entertainment

Personally I believe the forum here needs a lot of restructuring.
Let the post counts in the "Discussion" forums count and don't count the "off-topic" sub-forum. This would easily separate "game" threads from actual "Discussion" threads with constructive responses.
I've ran a number of forums in my time and have a lot of experience with it all. Through trial and error I have come to find out that the above forum list works best as far as organization and structure is concerned.
If you need any moderators to take over for the additional forums I would love to have an opportunity.
Thanks for all you have done here, the forum has come a long way.
