hahaha funny thing is I'M NOT A GUY! Get your damn facts straight. And I myself do NOT believe he that is going to be the best man for the job. Watch people are going to get fed up. Pffft people are already b****ing and complaining about him that DID vote for him! F Nobama!
No he's definitely not the best man for the job. He campaigned and campaigned on NO EARMARKS, NONE. And HIS new bill is full of 9000 of them!!! Like all politicians, he's a liar. The bill is full of pork, and most of it has absolutely NOTHING to do with stimulating the economy as to taking care of those who got him elected. Don't worry though, he will NOT be elected for a second term. No fear we only have 1339 days 7 hours 28 minutes and 47 seconds until the next election.

Thanks C_X, I just set my timer ;-)

But didn't you listen to his speach the other day? Those earmarks and that bill are from the last term. They're not his, he's just going to let it slide through and worry about the next one. Bleh

That right there should tell you something about the man, and how he's not the right one for the job.

I don't think it has ever been disputed that politicians fudge on their words...that is the culture of politics (particularly on the national platform).

Let's see; what are some things that the administration in office the last eight years lied about?...

The political arena is TRULY a realm of 'lesser of the evils'...Obama was just that from the choices the electorate was given in the general election. I am amused at how you affectionately adopt the terms 'earmarks' and 'pork' simply because politicians and media plaster such terminology. This is an example of a commercialized voter at best.

Don't let Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and the rest of the cookie cutters do the thinking for you.

So I'm from the cookie cutter because I believe that a politician should stick to his word whether the bill he's signing was drafted during his term or the term before him? I don't think so. The man should have some balls, do what he believes is right, and step up to the plate regardless of when the idea was made. He's still signing it, so if it backfires its still his behind that's going to get put in the fire. And anyone who doesn't think he should be should run headfirst into a wall.

Thanks for the article Slingbox... working in the healthcare field and doing a LOT of research, this really worries me. Most of the research we do is privately funded by donations from either very wealthy individuals or corporations. Without this money (and you can be sure the well will go dry) you can say goodbye to many new innovations

"This is a fundamentally flawed proposal. The nonprofit sector is the front of social innovation in this nation. The large institutions that will be hurt most by this are the ones working on big picture questions like how to treat/cure cancer, and how to develop cost-effective alternative energy. These institutions win Nobel Prizes and train the leading scholars of the next generation. How can we possibly claim that investing in a government bureacracy is a better use of resources? We can’t. Perhaps a better idea is to offer LARGER tax deductions to the wealthiest should they choose to invest in this universal healthcare fund. As noted, people will find a way around this or they will simply stop giving"

Now I have read some funny threads before, but this one tops the list.

People calling others greedy because they don't want the Government to take from them? Greedy because they work hard and at the end of the day they feel that the fruits of that labor should be theirs and not just given to others on a whim? However, at the same time there are those that feel people should get things like universal health care and have to do nothing for it? Tell me, is greedy to want to keep what you earned or is it greedy to want something for nothing?

I have also enjoyed the racial dynamic that just had to come up because someone dislikes Obama. I guess it is some sort of guilt that every white person feels deep down that forces them to make statements like "I'm not a racist, but....." if they disagree/dislike something that involves any other race. Well, I am not racist either, but I hate country music. It is the simple fact that Obama being black ever became an issue that just shows how far from "progressive" (to use Tlynnsmith's words) we actually are. Everyone should really get over the whole race issue and move on. There is a black man in the white house and if you have issue with that sentence then you actually are a racist...please seek help of a mental nature.

As for the politics I say NoBama, but then again I also say NoMoMcain, NoClinton and NoBush as well. I am fed up with Democomplaints and Republican'ts and I think the whole lot should be kicked out of Washington and we should start over. I'm sick of hearing/reading people talk about this being this President or that President's fault, no it's the Democrats or the Conservatives fault blah blah blah. It doesn't matter who you chose to blame, they are all guilty of doing the wrong thing when it comes to this country.

Oh, and since everyone keeps bringing up the mortgage problems I think we need to have a little more common sense and personal responsibility. Not everything that has happened to everyone in this country lately has been someone else's fault. Someone signing a mortgage for a million dollars when they have an annual income of $20k is cruel predatory lending on the part of the mortgage company. However when that person sees the new neighborhood they are moving into and every house has a brand new Lexus, Mercedes, BMW or Ferrari in the driveway and they are driving a 25th hand '75 AMC Gremlin an alarm bell should go off somewhere in the tiny thing that they refer to as a brain.

Personally I think that everyone is entitled their own opinion, no matter how wrong they actually are . That's my opinion anyway.

I don't even know why but I throw in my worthless $.02 of opinion.
    1. Kudos to Rodeo, I love what you wrote.
    2. I think White people tend to say "I am not a racist but" because they are scared people of color will label them racist if they say anything they don't agree.
    3. We have racisism in every culture.
    4. In my personal experience I have experienced more racism from the black community than the white. So I get tired when the race card get tossed around all the time.

I don't have much argument left in me. I do agree with a lot of what Roeod said, but not all of it. Many people made a lot of money in the last decade on pushing those subprime mortgages. Sure foreclose those loans people can't afford, but those who profited from the securities created from them ought to take a long look in the mirror.
I also don't have a lot of sympathy for those who made great wealth being asked to give some back. It's easy to say throw them out, they all suck. They don't, most of those we elect care and want to do the b est the can for us. It's all guess work at this point knowing the right path, all I know is we tried one way, now we need to do something different.

You can't just throw that out there without acknowledging that Obama's campaign manager was in CHARGE of Freddy Mac and that both Mac and Mae were essentially two of the main axes of evil in the mortgage bonus sceme... Democrats blocked every Republican attempt to slow that train crash down. Bush with his unhermeneutical pro-illegal stance was complicit... I can't argue that... but Obama HIRED, paid and took money from one of the architects of the debacle.... please!

Right on Doc, and don't forget an unknown (at the time) community activist and lawyer, working for ACORN, now holding the highest political office, who sued Citibank in Chicago to force them to give out those loans. If the banks made out like bandits, why are we bailing them out? You can watch your Dems doing their best for you here:

Don't be too sure. I was on another thread covering a controversial subject, and it simply vanished. Others I was debating digressed to name calling, etc., and I was through on there anyway, but I thought it would stand as a fine example of the lack of tolerance on the "tolerant" side.
