- Was WebKit, BES the only new news from RIM? Where are all the new "innovative" devices?
I'm a lover of my BB devices, but there seriously stuck in 1989 with there hardware and really there software too.
Not here to bash because nobody can touch RIM OS on connectivity and productivity for a device, BUT CMON!! Give me some new exciting devices to look forward too!!
Wow a Tour2 with the same ol' processor? A 9100 Pearl that looks like the old Pearl?
Again, not here to start a flame war, just hoping to see some new devices with some top specs.
What does everyone think?02-16-10 07:38 PMLike 0 -
Its the companies in a weaker position like palm or ms that have to make revolutionary changes because they don't have the sales or market share to make their existing userbase worth keeping.02-16-10 07:57 PMLike 0 - ^^you do make a valid good point.
Just asking for a touchscreen/qwerty keyboard Blackberry....is this too much to ask for? haha
Not a fan of Android OS (HTC devices) or Palm OS...so just hoping RIM catches up and gets out of the 90's. Even Nokia is making serious changes (which was notorious for outdated hardware/software).02-16-10 08:34 PMLike 0 - Let's not forget the big show and tell with charts and stuff which basically said "Don't buy all those cool smartphones out there that hog bandwidth. Buy our isht because it's light on network bandwidth... don't worry so much about your experience on it, it sucks because it doesn't suck bandwidth as much."02-16-10 09:01 PMLike 0

Personally, I hope they add a vertical slider like the palm pre before they add one like droid so that its still reasonable to use one-handed if you want.02-16-10 09:12 PMLike 0 - That does seem to be a logical addition to their range of form factors and I wouldn't be surprised if we see one of those this year as they do seem to add a new one most years.

now if the storm had a simple iphone type touchscreen experience (please stop making clicky screens RIM, wtf?), i'd be all over that because i love the storms look
gimmie a storm with a snapdragon and capacitive touch screen....then were talkin02-16-10 09:21 PMLike 0 - @mapimages, I like the "clicky" screen. It's the one thing that makes me get the Storm 2 over other touchscreens. I just don't like opening up apps unintentionally. I think that difference in the Storm series is a great addition.
What they should (and probably will do in future versions or even an update) is give the option so that people like you can be satisfied as well as people like me who prefer it.
Although I don't have nearly the problems that others in the forum have with the OS (basically the UI is what they're impatient about), I do hope they can reconfigure the UI to be more to the liking of the disenchanted.
They have a lot of ground to cover and it can only get better from here02-16-10 09:42 PMLike 0 - @mapimages, I like the "clicky" screen. Things will be getting ugly for RIM here soon, hopefully they have some bombs to drop at WES 2010.
WinMo the red-headed step child has been reborn. It'll be amazing to see how well the platform performs. If you have doubts, see what tens of millions in advertising will do for mediocre phones like the Storm and Droid.02-16-10 10:51 PMLike 0 - MWC is more about software and technology innovations - not product announcements. It was already known RIM wouldn't announce any devices at MWC.02-17-10 09:59 AMLike 0
- Here's a basic summary:
Browser: We'll kinda catch up eventually, later. Here's an edited video to prove it. We wouldn't want to do a live demo because we don't want to use bandwidth unnecessarily.
Speaking of bandwidth, we throttle your phone for the greater good. Be one with the pipe.
Oh, and BIS users...sorry about your luck.
Did you notice our new trackpad and wifi?02-17-10 10:15 AMLike 0
