I have a buddy who does not want or need a smartphone, just wants a good Verizon capable device probably second-hand. What is a good device from Verizon? I am on AT&T so I am not sure about Verizon.

Right now the LG Dare is a target. I know that is an older device, but if found at a good price, is it worth it? This will be simply for texting and phone calls only.

A feature phone, or simple GSM SIM phone should do fine, since CDMA phones won't be unlockable (use on other carriers)

How's a GSM SIM phone going to be fine on Verizon?

I've got 2 kids that are using the Samsung Convoy. It's a ruggedized flip phone, has media play capability, but it isn't anything special. Not sure if you can get them used or not.

As far as feature phones go, my local VZW shop likes the LG Cosmos 2:
