I don't think those rules are "stupid". In most places in Canada, the drinking age is 19, but it should really be 21 like in the US.

And I think that's absolutely stupid. I am very glad that Stephen Harper hasn't backed down to the "legalise marijuana" people. The day that that comes to Canada will be a very sad day indeed.

Hey, if one is old enough to go die for your country, why not have a drink if you want to? I think 21 us too high. Should be 18.

In all actuality, the majority of teenagers will have consumed alcohol long before their seventeenth birthdays, so a more lax age restriction wouldn't change much. What it would change is the perception and acceptance of alcohol. It would no longer be a bad thing to do. And we all know that there's nothing good about alcohol, just as there is nothing good about illegal narcotics (they are illegal for a reason).

Nothing good about alcohol? You're generalizing a bit much for someone who hasn't tried it. Just 'sayin. Alcohol is purely for enjoyment. It's not supposed to cure world hunger or something. Lol. And if a person isn't mature or wise enough to watch how much they drink, it won't matter if they are 18 or 50.

I have a Canada story to go a bit off topic :P
I'm in Portland, OR. Went to Seattle for a couple of days then a day trip to Vancouver, went to Stanley Park, great place. Then downtown, and that's when I realized we had gotten there on 4/20. The little city center place downtown was smelling weed, people on trees smoking it, and all that. Cops were there but just standing around the place, impossible to get around cuz the streets were blocked. Can't judge too much cuz people here get crazy on 4/20 too. Legalized in Washington but not here, thankfully not yet.
