This is not a thread for debating gun laws or who's right or wrong on either side of the gun debate in North America.

It's about a celebration of life for the Mounties who were taken from us before their time is due. I was hoping CB would have started a thread on the tragedy, but alas.

It takes a special person to run toward a threat, not knowing that at any moment things could go horribly wrong. In time, people will forget. For now, let's remember... and spare a moment of silence.

Glad Justin Bourque came to his senses and turned himself in to the police.

Why is it bad that he surrendered? Did you want him to keep fighting?

I agree with many things stated on both sides of the topic; I was just hoping for a bit of reflection and prayers for the lives lost and the families affected.

I'm not here to talk about the person who caused this carnage. I'm thinking about the victims not only in this tragedy, but in others past and, undoubtedly others to come.

May God have mercy on their souls.

Thanks Birdman. I'm sure this thread won't get a ton of attention, but that isn't why I started it. At least it's here for anyone who may want to express their feelings.

Feeling sad to be honest, good folks with families go to work, don't come home...all due to a nut job on a misguided mission...sad indeed.

That tragedy in Alberta was another horrible event. In all honesty, I felt it deeply as well , but not quite the same as this time. I'm now more in tune and in touch.

I observed a lot of things during the event this time. There are a lot of things I wish I could speak to, but it's best that I don't.

I really hope people look beyond the person in uniform that's approaching to issue a moving violation, the person in uniform at a road block, or the person carrying out whichever duties assigned. After all. When things go wrong you don't call GhostBusters... you dial 911

As was the one in Saskatchewan. I knew the female constable who was killed. She was a high school crush of mine.
