I will post the link from CNN when I find it. It was the topic of discussion on the CNN HLN.

Correction to the tread. It was a 7th grader not a 7 year old. Here is the link

7th-grader charged in child porn case

Maybe this will clear some of the story up.

Even though I think the parents were obviously mistaken in believing their child was responsible enough to own a cell phone, I do not think they should be held accountable for his actions. Like I said in the other thread, even if someone tells someone a thousand times what is right and what is wrong it doesn't mean they won't do the wrong thing. Whether it's sending porn over their cell phone or shooting someone with a gun, the fact of the matter is parents should use better judgment when entrusting their children with new technology these days. There are so many things that can happen, such as this story. It makes me sick to think that someone at my 8 year old sister's school might one day show her an inappropriate image or video. I think the kid getting caught and put behind bars is enough punishment for the parents and that the kid should learn consequences for his own actions. Hopefully other parents wake up and realize that technology isn't just for fun and games and that this kind of stuff does happen. Parents need to monitor all activity and be actively involved in their kids lives.

After reading that; it still doesn't change the opinion that the parents will not be convicted of anything even IF they are charged. It also doesn't change the opinion that the parents should not be responsible for such actions similar to that of their child in this incident.
