Yahoo just bought Tumblr for 1.1. I remember when she said BlackBerry isn't a tech company. Apparently Tumblr is?

When did she say that? I doubt this very much. Do you have a link?
Can't wait to see her get fired as bb rises back to greatness.
The OP has paraphrased Marissa's comment a bit but you can search the thread archives for the actual quote. Not entirely sure what Tumblr will bring to Yahoo. Can't see it as being a big money generator. Perhaps they are just using it to increase hits on the main web portal.
She's a nut job that somehow managed to work her way into a CEO position. If you do some research on her time at Google you will learn that she doesn't have much to offer any tech company let alone Yahoo.
I give her another year before she's out the door at Yahoo.
And tumblr for 1.1? Come on...

She must be getting Yahoo! into the porn business as that is all tumblr is used for...
They (Yahoo's board) are thinking it will make them "hip" in the younger generations eyes...time will tell.

What does Yahoo's acquisition of Tumblr have to do with Blackberry?
Nothing really.
Marissa's first order of business when she took office at Yahoo was get rid of everyone's BlackBerry's however.
The most efficient work tool is the first thing she removes...enough said.

I read the articles at the time and I really don't remember anything resembling that comment. Paraphrasing is fine, making up quotes is not ok.

If you did a simple Google search you would have found it. Can't expect someone to hold your hand every day.

Lots of vitriol for Marissa Mayer on this thread. Karma has a way of coming back.
When she became CEO of Yahoo about a year ago Yahoo stock was at $15.74, now it is at $25 (59% increase)
When Thorsten became CEO 18 months ago BBRY stock was at $17, today it is below $10 (43% decrease)
