Definitely a watershed moment for many who are still enthralled with the Start Trek series.

I am old enough to have watched them as they were made and still remember seeing the first episode, on black and white TV ! Even now I really enjoy watching the "refreshed" versions with new graphics and 1080p resolution. I'm still amazed how the sometimes simple plots were actually reflecting the serious moral questions of the 60's and how relevant they still are today after all these years.

All the technology that the show spawned and is still inspiring innovation even today. Who would have a imagined a "failed" TV show could have such a major impact our every day lives ?

For those of you who are completely confused as to the technical or social importance of this program, the inspiration for the "flip phone" came from the communicators used on the show.

    Live long and prosper !

Very sad... was a great show for it's time, and helped a lot of people to see how interesting science and technology could be.

Mr Nimoy will Live Long in the character he created....

Oh how I loved his jabs at McCoy, and his portrayal of an implied sense of superiority

Actually I think you're totally wrong. I think the science fiction technology in the show is directly related to many of the telecommunications tech we have today.

I grew up watching the original series with my dad. Spock always fascinated me, even more than Kirks alien kissing exploits.

A great actor that will be missed.
