It showed a woman watching James Cameron's "Avatar" on a mobile device. She appeared to be in awe. Why would anyone want to watch any movie on a mobile device?

ITA Tonis, let alone a movie like Avatar which needs the big screen to get the feeling of the scope. Not to mention the sound quality.
I've done it on airplane rides where they don't show movies. It is not actually that awful - you tend to focus in and the size issue can fade but, clearly, Avatar needs at least a 4x10 inch screen (g).
I watch movies sometimes. It is nice ti be able to put on my BT headphones and watch a movie in bed or something. Also when camping and trying to fall asleep in the tent, riding the bus, etc. Of course movies are better on larger screens, but can you carry those in your pocket?

I watch Hi-Def movies all the time on my EVO. :D
I watch movies on my ipod touch 64 sometimes. It's not awful, when you're somewhere there's no other option. Of course, if I'm at home, I'll pick my 62" hdtv every time over a mobile device.

I even watch movies in my Pos 9550. Did it on my 9530 and on my way old Lg Voyager. Can't wait to do the same on 4.3" of screen goodness when my dx gets here. Can't wait. Hurry up warehouse workers!

I don't think it's the fact of watching a movie on the phone, it's that the Samsung Galaxy S has a Super AMOLED Screen that is AMAZING, drop into a T-Mobile store and look @ it... it's amazing.. i'd watch a movie on it any day of the week.
480x800 on a 4 inch screen with 16,777,216 different colors....
I've watched a movie on my 8320 and my 9700 while at work. Not many other options for watching a movie...
I tried the samsung galaxy s at bell world. Super smooth android device. Betcha it could handle ubuntu :) it's FAST! Also used the data on it once I turned on the router switch and such, it is now a usable hotspot! :)

...and that ladies and gentlemen is why a lot of stores display dummy phones. Lol
The biggest change I make to phones in stores is turning all the BB's from displaying signal strength bars, to dBm (the old alt+nmll trick).
I wish I'd have thought of it and configured the X I was playing with as a hotspot.
