So folks, second time lucky

Now I'm all for a mixture of formal and informal for weddings these days. We're getting married in a huge marquee on a working farm surrounded by orchards and animals, with a bamboo garden with a pond, etc. It's a wonderful venue.

Now, the one thing both of us don't want is an awkward first dance. We don't have 'a song' as such. Does anyone else think this is an issue? Thoughts please.

Context: large family, none religious, want fun and laughter with a touch of ceremony. Suited and booted but no top and tails.

instead of having a first dance, just invite all the immediate family members to share the first dance so you are not alone up on the floor thats what we did in my previous life

Our only song would be Ho Hey by The Lumineers. It's not the easiest song to dance to when you have two left feet.

Congrats man!! Hopefully you get the dance thing figured out. Realistically you could just go with something very slow and sweet and just take it easy. If you can't dance then you can't dance... There's no reason to push the issue. Just find something you both enjoy and go with it

Congratulations.
I had similar concerns about the first dance. What we did was hire a professional dance couple. When we were called out for the dance, we sent them in instead. They were awesome. The crowd was impressed, but confused.

Just kidding. Don't sweat it. That moment is not about your dance skills. Wing it, you will be fine.

Congratulations! The first dance is usually a romantic slow dance (e.g. Michael Buble's The Way Look Tonight), and no fancy footwork required, just sway to the music. You can continue on with a faster tempo song where parents can join in (check what song is meaningful to them), followed by friends and guests. I used to play music at weddings a lot and love it. Such a special event! Do your best to enjoy it and taking it all in as much as you can. The day will zoom by quickly.
