Not even kidding. How do I get off the burnt on kids school uniform before the missus takes my head off from the groin area?

From the iron, you mean? I would try wetting an old dishtowel or cotton rag (one you don't mind throwing out) and ironing it to see if you can wipe it off. The uniform mayn't be salvageable ;)
Saw your title. Clicked on it because I was going to tell you to go to the doc and get antibiotics. Then I read your post.

I might still need the docs... the kids school trousers are what is commonly known as shiny!

You, my friend, just started a new fad! Congratulations! Now I've got to find my iron and get in on it!

Is it a non-stick base or just steel? If just steel, then try crumpled up aluminum foil with the problem area submerged. It's gentler than steel wool but should take the burnt stuff off.
If it's non-stick...I'm out of ideas. Battery acid from the car? That always eats through my clothing.

Non-stick...
So, before bothering to read ideas I went through the good ladies makeup drawers and found what I believe is a pumice stone for sanding down hard skin on your feet?
Well, it was white but now it's black. I was near the bathroom so I grabbed the good ladies sponge to clean off the iron.
Pro: the iron looks okay
Con: dead man standing over state of pumice stone and the rather written off sponge.

You need a ladder? That hole you're digging seems to be getting deeper. :)

It's okay, I'll hide in the hole with my BBM branded pig...

My wife says the "Magic Eraser" should do it.
Edit: When the iron is cold.
Yes, I have screwed up lots, but I know not to touch the hot surface of an iron.
This one time, getting ready for work when I'm 20 ish, I had an incident involving ironing damp boxers and what the content of the boxers should have been. Yes, I yelped and my guy bits have never let me forget.
Try the old traditional way. Get a couple of normal white candles rub it over the iron while it's hot. Make sure you have a piece of rag to iron it over. The melted wax should clean off any stained from the iron.
Leave it plugged in and throw it in a bathtub

Thanks so much.

Not until we mention sitting in the bath with the hairdryer plugged in to really get in deep on the cleaning.

Ah, the trousers didn?t look too bad in honesty, they went shiny as the are a 5 year old's nylon school uniform grey.
He still wore them this morning as the mark that I left with the iron is on the inner thigh.

Whew! He's still breathing! Of course, with this amazing keyboard he might have typed that with broken fingers... but at least we know he's alive!

LOL. This just humoured me.

Pro-tip - to avoid the shine, press the trousers instead of ironing them. Just press the iron up and down without sliding it across the material at all. Steam often.

Wow!! Someone has a death wish! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope he didn't try this! :rotfl:
Looks like a couple of irons that I've had to replace after my wife used it. The funny thing is that she blames me for it.
Lol
