It really was a good movie - I was kind of surprised. I like sci fi and fantasy movies, but they usually don't flesh out characters or do a lot of back story. HBoy did a good job of both. It also did a good job setting up a sequel.

I've heard they stepped up from the original. personally, I liked the first one, but it wasn't very well received.

They did step it up. The effects were good; very believable. The comic book movies have come a long way. He*l Boy is grittier than most. It has a dark quality like BatMan but with humor. Like I hinted before, you come away from it caring about the characters. Ron Pearlman did carry the movie with a face made for makeup, lol. I've always liked Selma Blair and she pulls off her role as his wife well.

The crowd I took to the movie was my son, his sister and six of his buddies. They are all 14 and 15 and they liked it, too. You could tell because instead of goofing around, they all were quiet and watched the movie. My 11 Y/O daughter liked it too. I think she got the humor better than the boys. Of course she liked hanging out with the cute teenage boys, ha-ha. Eighteen thumbs up.

I saw it, and I liked it a lot. It probably won't be a Best Picture or anything, but it was enjoyable. In fact, I'd probably see it again haha.
