Hey everyone, I'm in planning to open a small used book store. Anyone have any suggestions for a name? My first name is Michael if that helps, and I have one hundred 24 x 24 inch boxes of non-fiction books my Step-Dad left me - many about American wars, mostly the Civil and two World Wars. Anyway, I have found a space in large antique barn in town I can rent for my venture and need a name for my kiosk.

Wow, what good suggestions. Turn the Page and Bookends have my attention along with Page out of History. A little background, I used to help a friend go to estate sales and know how to get stock if the venture gets off the ground.

I think you should call it 2x2 Books. ... all the boxes are 2' by 2' and you could offer specials on buying books in multiples of 2 or 4. (2x2 = 4) .. 4 hour specials... trust me. People who buy books at specialty shops like silly symbolism like that. You can also play with the name. Too by Too Books and such. Literary people are such saps for that stuff....

You got the books from your step-dad who is your SECOND dad... the list goes on and on..

LOL, you may be on to something Doc. I have been going through the collection and there are a number of interesting titles. One I recently finished was the West Point Atlas of American Wars. It has descriptions and maps with troop movements of every major battle American troops were involved in from the Early Settlers conflicts with Indians, and the Indian wars Washington fought in as a young man up to the Korean War. Edited by a Col. Esposito, there is an updated edition that covers the Viet Nam war and first desert war - edited by General Esposito, haha. He also left first editions of President Grant and Gen Sherman's Memoirs, and HG Wells' 4 volume history of the world. That one had an interesting forward praising President Harding, lol, for sponsoring a world summit and arms control talks. Unfortunately the Spanish and the Japanese weren't invited. Dad was a 30 year military guy.

Sounds like you have a lot of great memories about him. That's awesome.

I don't know if John Mayer would sue you but "Room for Squares" sounds appropriate in a lot of ways too...

Not enough money to do anything like that, Coach. There's a huge barn antique store in Caslte Rock that rents small spaces inside. I'm getting one of those small spaces, the sign will be a hand stenciled job, lol.
