- Lilja concerns me too, but Chelios hasn't exactly had a stellar year, I thought he was downright dreadful at times against the Stars. Lebda doesn't scare me so much so I guess if Lilja is the one bad spot I'd still say the Wings are in good shape.
I think Babcock is playing it brilliantly, still going with the this is what we have beat us, so far it's worked.05-28-08 12:11 PMLike 0 -
If Sydor was the best option I'm guessing he would of been in game 105-28-08 12:13 PMLike 0 - i'm not dead yet...
almost jumped off the building after game two (figureatively of course)..
but..what can i say. we lost...
you dont hear me chirping about oh they cheated or this or that.. the wings played great hockey..the pens need to wake up..
maybe all they need is a dose of home...
i havent said much cause there isnt much to say...we got stomped pretty good. .
its almost easier than losing by one late in the game... they just LOST...
we'll see if a dose of allegheny water cant get them on track...otherwise its not going to be much fun at all...
i cant even watch the analysis..just too painful...
but i will watch and cheer my penguins when they drop the puck...
too bad about letang i like him...sydor is no joke but letang is faster...

Gotta give ya credit for not making excuses, it's easy to do when trying to explain the results, heck the Pens are a good team. They need to score first tonight, probably need to get a goal in the first or they'll start squeezing the sticks too much.
But the Pens are a good team and if they don't win this year and they can keep most of the team together or mix in a couple vets that have been there recently they'll probably hoist the cup within the next couple years. Key is they have to keep what they have together and that won't be easy for a small market club.05-28-08 02:30 PMLike 0 - I gotta say one thing, I'm sitting here watching NHL Network and they are showing game 6 from the 2006 playoffs between Carolina and Montreal and I gotta say. I miss having CBC available to watch games, growing up in the Detroit area it was always an option for playoff hockey and of course Hockey Night in Canada, I miss it. That is all...lol05-28-08 02:55 PMLike 0
- strader was doing the radio
thorne and clement were good as was levy
the wings play by play teams on radio and tv are both pretty good. Ken Kale and Paul Woods one the radio and Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond on tv.
crap time to go to golf oh well...... LETS GO WINGS!!!05-28-08 03:15 PMLike 0 - I missed most of the game from the sounds of what I heard on sports talk radio is, although somewhat biased, that if that's the best the Pen's are gonna have then this series won't be won by the Pens, but like I said I don't know cuz I pretty much missed it and only saw bits and pieces between beers and pizza slices.
Also heard Lilja stunk yet again, would be shocked if the old man wasn't back in the lineup.
From what I'm guessing neither team was stellar so Sat. should be interesting and is a must win for the Pens.05-29-08 11:37 AMLike 0 - If that was the best the Pens had, then no, it won't be enough to win the series. I'm just looking at it as 'yeah, the Pens showed that they can make it a series.'
They got some lucky bounces, some bad, bad passes from Detroit's D and some great goals because of Detroit's mistakes.
and I made a mistake. Milkcarton played better than what I said he did. He was in on a couple rushes and scoring chances.
Staal should have gotten called for that high stick on Lidstrom. That was one of the only things the refs blew last night. They did a pretty good job overall.
Hall Gill is a big dude. I'm 6'5"/205. He's 6'7"/255. He looked funny sitting next to the NHL employee in the penalty box. Huge!
And yes, Lilja stunk. They even mentioned it during the game i think. Everybody knows it, even him i'm sure. I feel bad for the guy but he's a boy among men on that team.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-29-08 12:44 PMLike 0 - I have noticed some really ugly biased towards Detroit. I was excited about this series because i wanted to watch Crosby. But the cheap shots to Franzens head, and bad calls/no calls has taken the wind out of my sails and put me on a "just beat the Pens and get our cup and come home" attitude. Crosy's refusal to give Detroit, one of the most storied teams in the league ANY credit at all just adds to this.
Lets go Red Wings!05-29-08 12:50 PMLike 0 - A beating is one thing, thats Hockey. Ask Homer.
But cheap shots after the play directly to a mans head who just came back off of a concussion is more than just hockey. Its low and dirty and i have no respect for it. its one thing to want to hurt someone in the name of hockey, but to really try to take someone out, or maybe even end their career, where is the pride/ skill in that?05-29-08 12:56 PMLike 0 - one thing to want to hurt someone in the name of hockey, but to really try to take someone out, or maybe even end their career, where is the pride/ skill in that?
....a bit contradictory i'd say....but - if one punch is going to end his career he wouldnt be out there, frazen did a very nice job of embelishing that, he was there for the next puck drop...he looked like a fifa soccer player out there05-29-08 01:01 PMLike 0 - JRussett:
That doesn't make sense. You honestly equate a thug punch to Crosby being legally checked???
Crosby gets the attention and checks because he's a good hockey player. Yeah, he's got a reputation of being a diver but I've never seen him get sucker punched playing in this year's playoffs.
If you can justify the Roberts punch to Franzen, then you are a bit jaded. I don't even care about Johan coming back from a concussion. It's wrong to hit anybody like that. Red Wings have too much class to stoop that low. That's why the tough guys on the Wings (McCarty and Maltby) have more cup wins than Roberts.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-29-08 01:03 PMLike 0 - You must not have seen Franzen's face during the locker room interview that night. He had a pretty big bruise on his cheek. He was there for the next puck drop because he's tough as nails. Most hockey players are. Stuff that puts out an NFL or NBA guy for weeks would be ignored by a hockey player.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-29-08 01:05 PMLike 0 - not contradictory at all. i understand that in hockey there will be fights. until the league changes that, its part of the game.
i just feel its different when its not revenge, or get back or anything of the classic hockey sort. instead its an " oh yeah, his head is messed up, let me hit him in it after the play is OVER" is disgusting.
No, one hit probably won't end it. But he did hit Franzen. In the HEAD. Not someone else. He hit Franzen in particular. You will never convince me he did not have other motives.
But we can agree to disagree.
