I was wondering if any of the wonderful CB members had any suggestions on an alternative email provider. Currently I'm using Gmail and am getting tired of how it operates.

I have no issues with how it interacts with my phone, I just find that often it isn't so user friendly on my pc.

    Any thoughts?

I find outloook.com works a treat with both my BlackBerry and PC. Everything syncs perfectly

And forwarding Gmail to outlook is simple, and there is also a tool (I can't remember the name of it) that can import all your Gmail emails to outlook

Thanks! Was thinking about outlook.com but don't know anyone who uses it. I will look into it.

Just about anyone with a skype account, even if they don't use it has one...

Outlook seriously is the better option.

And a ok alternative, mainly because it works anywhere and is not USA hosted....

    Gmx.com

I too am migrating from scroogle these were my best options.

With outlook.com, if you delete and email on your phone will it be moved to the trash folder when you look at it on the computer?

That is more about using imap vs pop3.

    The short answer is yes,
Long answer is that it depends on how you setup your email account on your device, imap is the one you want as it syncs among devices.

Most popular email providers offer both options.
You would do this at the time you configure your email account on your devices.

TrueSwitch is the name you're looking for. It does the work of migrating an account (Gmail for me) to an Outlook.com account.

Also, Outlook.com (or Live.com) uses ActiveSync vs. IMAP. So, you can keep messages on your device "forever". This option can be selected when setting up on your device.

The only minor drawback is that some users (me included) have found that sub-folders created either from the device or on the webmail page sort randomly instead of alphabetically. A minor PITA.

I got a couple of outlook.com accounts and have never looked back to Gmail. Just have one for spam since there was no reason closing my old account.
