I have to agree with the OP. although I am relatively new to CB, I have seen the site grow a lot in the past year. The site and Kevin has received a lot of media coverage recently and has to have some standards. No one would be offended if some failed to post an articular on the front page about how to hide your p0rn, but many people were offended that the post was made. logic dictates that the post was not suited for the front page. like the OP I do enjoy the typical tongue and cheek style of this site, and do not wish it to become a bland traditional news site, but some standards should still be kept.
The real problem with CrackBerry is that there is SO much useful information that it's sometimes hard to find. You can search, but for your search to be successful, you need to know the right keywords to search for. You also don't know if the solution to your problem resides in the forums or in the blogs. Especially given the huge amount of information recently due to the launch event and the new devices, informative posts only live on the front page for a brief period of time. The blog post about hiding 'sensitive' information is certainly important - especially given that this functionality, which used to be native, is no longer avialable out of the box. The picture and the title of the blog is certainly risque. But it did it's job - engraining into my memory what to search for if I want the functionality on my BB10 device when it becomes available from Sprint. Given that could be months away, I know I'll be able to easily find an important source of information for me when I need it.

I think this would be the best conversation to come in the middle of. We show that we have users with what they consider to be high morals, myself included, and those of us that also see the benefit of being honest in our posts. We post from the hip as they say. We dont take a holier than though stance. Most of the times. And incidentally, I will never be able to look at a gingerbread cookie the same again. Thanks Chris.
You've obviously never been around teenagers making cookies.

I have been known to photograph a particularly enormous turd, for the amusement of one or two particularly childish friends I have. I'd rather that was hidden from the kids, when they pick up my phone.

OK Bla1ze, what's it going to be? I read your reply to my comment on the original post here: The ability to hide your porn now requires an app on BlackBerry 10 | CrackBerry.com and I have something to say: Yes, seriously I have seen some of the stuff that's been posted in the past here...I've been here for 4.5 years. Duh. I say I'm offended, and the knee-**** reaction is "lighten up" or "chill" as if my opinion and those of others like me are somehow wrong and easily discarded. You're running a site frequented by many ethnicities, sensibilities, religious background and moral codes and this post's accompanying picture will offend many of them. I express this as my own opinion, without attempting to speak for those other groups but I'm pretty sure I've assumed right. Do you want this site to prosper? If yes, both you and this site better grow up. While you're at it, please do your site mod thing and either lock this thread or deal with it. If you ask me to go away, I'll go away and I'll be careful not to let the door hit me in my a$$. I'm thoroughly disgusted with the level of rhetoric on this thread and no, I didn't do this to start a flame war.

This would be a good time for us all to stop posting here until we get the final verdict from the site owners. If I could lock this thread I would've done it hours ago.

    -Eric
So I'm guessing that Mercedes should not have aired their commercial of a scantily clad super model washing a car in slow motion. I assume you'll never use GoDaddy to register a domain name. Sex and innuendo drive marketing. It's all about getting attention. The blog and it's image are already off the front page, but by creating this thread (with links to the blog), you are responsible for driving lots of traffic to the page.

As far as your final statement is concerned:
"If I could lock this thread I would've done it hours ago."

You can't. You opened up a discussion about your concern and have personally invited the conversation. Maybe you should have thought about how you could have more effectively had your concern addressed. Your PM was a good start. If I were you, I would have followed up in private. But you chose to open up the discussion.

You're right. It's not a fair apples to apples comparison. The Samsung ad has her making her lurid suggestion in front of her kids. There are no kids involved in any way with the gingerbread pic.

You know I used to love playing pool. But then when I got older (27 now), I realized how racist the game was. Why does the white ball always gotta hit the colored balls? After realizing that, I gave the racist game up because it offended me. The thing that pushed it over the top was the black ball would only get attention at the very end. Discrimination much?

this whole thread is on censorship...yet, no one has a problem that you can't say ****, ****, ****, ***, *****, ****, ****, or any other "curse words....so why are "suggestive" photos any different?
Because suggestive photos are a major part of what drives Maddison Avenue and the entire advertising industry. We're not talking about porn here. We're talking about suggestive photos. And it's a gingerbread man for crying out loud!

somewhat agree with OP. Post was fine - could have done without the picture. I get that it was heavily censored. I even smile at the use of the gingerbread man - It introduced a new genre of porn to me. But pic was NSFW and not safe for around the kitchen table with family around. A little more discretion would have seemed reasonable.

Oh lighten up! It's just a girl whose face is being sat on by a gingerbread cookie while she is apparently enjoying the taste of his frosty goodness! tt's an image that caught attention to read an article. Isn't that what the whole media game is all about?

So CrackBerry should delete the article and apologize for the pic? And I guess Samsung should also apologize for their ad that has a wife suggesting that her husband 'hide' a 'special' video that she made just for him? And what are they referring to by "the next big thing?"

    Just sayin'
So, is there a native way on Android to hide a file of this type or does it require an app?
