The irony of this thread is hilarious. You're worried about your kids and others accessing porn or being exposed to it, yet you condemn a thread showing you how not to exposed said people to it.

Sorry if it's been said already, but the real informational takeaway was the fact that we can no longer hide files on BB10. Relating it to porn was just a funny and creative way to relay that info. It's more interesting than a post that just says "Sorry guys, we can no longer hide files". That'd be a pretty short article.

The ability to hide your porn now requires an app on BlackBerry 10 | CrackBerry.com

Yeah, well I've been told to lighten up with respect to my comment about this post. Here's the thing...I can't. This site is frequented by people of different races, creeds, religions, ages, and sensibilities. I've been on this site for quite a few years and seen a lot of edgy stuff and really appreciate it but this is over the top and I want the site admins to take it down and apologize. I've watched this site grow over the years to a one-stop fountain of knowledge about all things BlackBerry. It's also a place where, with few exceptions, people are respectful of one anothers' opinions even when they disagree.

Part of having certain standards is making a stand. You see, it's part of the word itself, isn't it? This site has to reach for a higher standard than it did in its early days because its reaching a larger audience than it did back in the day.

So, It offends me, yes. Does it make me a prude? I don't think so. I'm writing this because I care.
As a renowned PlayBook user (within my client's organisation) I got asked a lot about PlayBooks in the run-up to Christmas - mostly by my female colleagues wanting to buy a PlayBook for their teenage sons (usually early teens) - 64Gb PB's were only 129 in the UK during Christmas shopping season....

As well as demo-ing the PlayBook to many (mostly mothers), I also recommended CrackBerry for Tips & Tricks and emailed out links to specific CrackBerry advice threads

How many of those mothers do you think will find that picture appropriate? My guess - NONE.
[edit for clarification - how many mother's do you think will find that picture appropriate for their 13 or 14 year old sons.... - I've just shown the original article/picture to two mothers who bought tablets for a) 12 year old daughter, b) 13 year old son, and neither were at all impressed by a) the original article, & b) the fact that I had recommended CrackBerry to them and their families. It is the picture that has offended them]

CrackBerry - PLEASE remove this completely inappropriate Image, and in future be more mindful of who your audience is

    Thanks

    Alex

PS I know at least 7 PlayBooks were purchased in the run-up to Christmas by parents who work in my client's organisation

Yes, part of having certain standards could mean making a stand. But it can also mean setting standards for oneself, instead of setting standards for others to live by.

I thought that picture was amusing, I'm still chuckling about it. I have no problem with the term porn, I'm OK with discussing porn. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't be expressing your opinion. But reading this topic it's obvious that your opinion is that of a very small minority. I hope that you now recognise that your standards should not be enforced onto the overwhelming majority.

    Why are we bolding stand?

I'm not planning to reply to individual posts on this, but since this is pretty representative of what people are likely to say, I'll pick yours. No offense. ;-)

I am considered a very humorous person by my friends and family. I am *not* an in-your-face moralist or a religious zealot. I'm neither a lefty or a righty in my political views. What I *am* is a father of two, a C-level professional and a devoted fanboy of this site, having been here for over 4 years. I want it to continue to grow up and be the one-stop shop for this addictive thing we call the BlackBerry experience. Part of growing up is trying to appeal to as wide a population base as possible and finding a balance between editorial edginess and information. I don't want this site to become some kind of dry CNET-like news site. That "just ain't my thang". If I found this offensive, lots of others did too. I'm not on a crusade, vendetta or mission. I want (sorry, *expect*) better from the mods on this site.
So are you saying that people who enjoy porn ( maybe just a picture of the wife naked or some jokes) should not be afforded to be included in that population base?

BTW I find posts about many things offensive so should all of those topics/threads be taken down? How every other one someone else finds offensive? Where does it stop?

You could try like I do, if I find it something I'm not interested in and there aren't any graphic images etc. just bypass it and move along.

    Er... They are mothers.

    They've had sex.

I'm sure they appreciate you declaring that they are offended. I know as a woman I love having a man put words in my mouth...
It's two fully clothed women eating a cartoon gingerbread man. Are they on a carb free diet? Is that why they are grumpy and easily offended?

You know, I thought I'd seen the height of stupidity when people freaked out over Janet Jackson having a wardrobe malfunction during the super bowl because THINK OF THE CHILDRENZZZZZZ... But have no problem letting children watch a bunch of people try to decapitate each other over a pigskin. Heck this year people were so happy for a guy who most feel got away with murder winning the super bowl. Yep. That's so much better for kids than a nipplering.

Then I saw this thread and realized, no, this is the new height of stupidity.

So you went out of your way to look odd, by drawing unneeded attention to an article that multiple people likely would never have seen if it wasn't for your intervention? I certainly hope you don't recommend that they use Google for a search engine, cause boy oh boy you're really going to get into trouble then.

because once that guy is gone there would be a flood of it back online, but until that there is no point. lol
