Politly and without having to disrupt a thread for 2 hours to find out that yes western corporations have been using China for decades in order to make bottom lines go up. It accelerated during the Reagan years and hasn't stopped.

No, but I don't think we need to kid ourselves that our own governments don't have the ability to get the data (yes, through due process, the Chinese are probably just more efficient at it). Also, it doesn't have to only be the government's that can do harm against us for using the data.

If you aren't satisfied by the services you get in return, the fact that you can adjust your privacy settings, or the fact that you can delete the information they have at any time, then don't use them. You have a choice.

Yes I agree with you that one might not have as much control/choice if one uses a Chinese phone if that phone is designed to not provide that same level of control/choice.

Reagan shifted the power to the wealthy, and the wealthy used that power to escape the borders of democracy by moving production to China. By the time China was admitted to the WTO it was a necessity because by that time China owned most of America's foreign debt and now had serious clout.
