6 has more of a so called "real web" browsing experience. But on the tiny 2.4" bold's screen any real web experience is kinda lost imo. For a screen of this size one needs to be able to put it into a column type viewing experience to be able to see wtf your looking at. It's either column view or the endless scrolling and zooming that drives alot of us nuts. There is a type of text wrap that kind of works on 6's browser, but it is hit/miss to get it. Hover the magnifying glass over the text and ready 1,2,3 click. oopps. Didn't work. Go back and try again. LOL! Kind of a joke really. When it does work it is the other extreme. GIANTsize font. And on CB for whatever reason it takes the webkit forever to render pages with the default forum view enabled which is needed for the magnifying glass to magically appear. So basically it sucks on alot of site. Then some sites are fine with it. I'm on several forum sites and find CB to be the absolute worst to view with webkit.
I miss viewing CB with the oem browser of os-5. It is very fast and can load up a page in column view in seconds where I've seen the webkit take 5 to 10 times as long at least. .....Rant Over;)
Jim, you're absolutely correct! The native browser fails miserably to deliver and it takes a long time for pages to load. I have already found Bolt to be faster and easier to use in the few hours I have had it.
I downloaded a file (a jad file) that supposedly sets Bolt as the default browser on your phone instead of the native browser. I installed this jad twice and nothing. I don;t see a change. When I click a link and say open in browser, it still opens the native browser...BOO!!!
I'm gonna get that file again and see if I can get it to work....
This is from their website:
If you'd like to make BOLT the default browser on your BlackBerry (so you can open BlackBerry mail, messenger and sms links in BOLT) please download the BOLT Launcher Plug-in (in addition to the BlackBerry specific version of BOLT) at : http://boltbrowser.com/bblauncher.jad
PS What a dunce! It works! HAHAHAHAHA
It seems lately I have to sign into CB everytime using bolt. Used to keep me signed in. I didn't change anything on my end.Hmmmmm. maybe CB did? The oem browser keeps me signed in tho. This is mildly irritating. Otherwise no issues using bolt.
Jaydee, this is where quicklaunch comes in handy. Just set a key on the keyboard to open bolt and then in two clicks bolt will be open and ready to use.
also there is advice on the bolt site as to how to open say, a link in an email using the bolt browser as an oem. it's called blackberry launch I think.
RR, I use the method you describe for launching bolt. if it wern't for bolt I do
ubt I'd be able to stay with 6.

I've been using Bolt since last year and just love it. :)
Has anyone been able to install diff or bigger font for bolt? It's still on the small side even at 3xx. I see the change font option only has one choice.

RR...what do you mean?
I have QL open with my side key.
I have this forum as a link on my QL menu at the top.
Is there anyway to get Bolt to open this site automatically?
I'm confused.
Yes, I'm having gin. :D
OK this is NOT funny!!!
All my Essex Rambler family uses Bolt for a browser and NO ONE thought to tell the Fairy Godmother of the thread? (me)
What's going on here? What else are you kids keeping from me?
I bet you have ladders outside your bedroom windows too, to sneak out of the house at night without telling me!

Yup, ladders. LOL!
seriously, I guess everyone just thought you were cruisin' with bolt along.
I don't think there is any way to use QL+ bolt to open up the essex thread or any other with out going to the forum homepage first.

Jim, any way to reorganize my favorites on Bolt?
There is a starting list, which I have deleted for the most part, but want to add a few urls to the top of the list. Any ideas on how to do that?
have you checked out the FAQ on the bolt site? Tons of info. I do not have an answer for you, never tried doing that. Now that your savvy to bolt you can become the queen of bolt and fill us in on how it works. LOL!
Edit: There is a copy/paste feature. Maybew you could move them around that way

OK Jim, the late-to-the-party member got it figured out!
Highlight the bookmark, go to the menu, choose GRAB and roll it into position. Hit the track pad when you get it where you want it to drop it in place!!
Interestingly enough, the very top bookmark is immovable because it is a money generating link for Bolt...wow. So says their tech support.
I knew you'd teach us students how. I don't have alot of bookmarks so this never came up for me before.

:)ok, I understand the whole OS6 'real' browser surf experience now. Well, I prob will hold out on OS5 for a while then and see what VzW releases on the 19th. IF its 6, then I'll prob upgrade. If not, then at some point I'll pick one of the 6's floating around here and load it. I do know how to do it, its very simple, its just that I've actually never done it because I've never loaded leaks onto any of my bb's. BUT, theres always a first!:) Bb never cesses to amaze me, theres always something new to learn.
:)I had Bolt on my Curve8330 around last yr this time, it was still in beta when I loaded it. I just didnt care for it on my Curve at that time and stopped using it. Now I have it back on my Bold so we'll see what happens. I just may need it if I load OS6 up!:)
I loaded SCrid's 398, 415-424. I had a fair bit of trouble loading it. I use my netbook to load OS's and I wanted to try the bundled shrinker but the app was too tall for the netbook's screen and I couldn't get to the bottom part of the app. So I used the bbhybrids app to shrink it.
apploader kept crashing. It would get to where it would start to connect to the JVM for the first time and hang up. This was before the app selection screen.
So I used my wife's laptop. I already had an old copy of DM 5 on it, and the screen was big enough so I could use the enclosed shrinker. It installed just fine from the laptop, so now I don't know if its a problem with DM6 on my netbook, or perhaps the bbhybrids shrinker took out something vital to the install.
Wow. Too bad you had all that trouble. I installed that OS on my laptop only to extract the BB BOSS shrinker. lol. I still have a different hybrid on my phone. But if VZW doesn't come through with an OS6 version this week, I will be loading SCrid's hybrid on my Baby Bold.
OS Addiction? Hmmmm
I've had this hybrid for like a week now, where the H-E-L-L is vzw's offical already.
I don't know what you two are grousing about, my eldest turns 40 in a very few months and my youngest 33 in a couple of months. Sheeesh! Now that is getting old! :D
The eyes abandoned me years ago.
Bob you are not old enough to have a 40 year old child! :D
Musta had em when you were 10!
And you are addicted to OS installs as well.
There's no cure for us I'm afraid!!!:)
Not me, its been in the mid 40s here and drizzly, yuck! Give me 70s and 80s any day! Good thing I was otherwise detained all day and didn't have to feed off of my withdrawls from golf. Have not played all week, can you imagine?
Unfortunately, it is true and I was considerably older than 10, also 15 also 20. You get the picture. I'm acutally in the process of signing up for Medicare and suplements. Yikes!
Skyboxer, I also had some issues loading this version of hybrid BB6. Once I got it up and running it has been great.
Even OS installs get boring when they work right all the time. :p
