Apps and data. So I backup with BB Link (which i did last week) and then wipe and load the 1767 using an autoloader which wipes and loads, right? Do I have to do anything else? And then when it comes back up restore my apps and data.
And what I have to set all my setting again? Font size, brightness, what else? notifications?
YOu don't need to wipe. Autoloader wipes it anyway. You can if you want.
I heard not to restore apps either. I would just restore media. I've restored settings with no issues as well.
1. Disable device radios (this prevents new messages arriving during backup/restore. Most people do this by putting the device in Airplane Mode.)
2. Take a backup using Link
3. Close Link
4. Run Autoloader
5. Complete initial device setup (if using the optional Security Wipe method below, don't bother signing in to BlackBerry ID)
6. Disable device radios
7. Optional/recommended
a. Perform a Security Wipe (Settings > Security and Privacy > Security Wipe)
b. Complete initial device setup (I usually sign in to BlackBerry ID here)
8. Sideload your selected applications
9. Restore from Link
10. Enable radios
When I restore, I just restore media and apps with data. Link will backup your downloaded apps, including the Android apps from AppWorld. It won't backup your sideloaded Android apps. The last time out, though, it backed up and restored the data from my sideloaded apps, but not the apps themselves. Weird.
Additionally, I have to load my accounts again, even though I thought that BlackBerry Protect kept all that. My custom notifications are kept in HUB++. Ensure that you do the backup of that one (or BeBuzz or whatever notification app you use) on your SD card. A wipe will slick everything from the internal memory
Mornig Ramblers!
So I talked to all of you (ALL OF YOU INCLUDING BUFORD AND PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) in the group but anyway, just to make it official: I followed Underway's instructions and reloaded the OS on my phone. I switched to 1725 on the recommendation of a few of the guys in the leaks group. And my battery temp has dropped to 27C and there is not battery drain to speak of. Of course, with the increase in BBM folks jumping aboard, I am using it more so naturally, it is going to wear down a bit. But nothing like it was!
Took my four hours to wipe and load and set up everything from scratch. Smoother and except for a few niggling things like losing all my bookmarks, etc and setting up a forwarding email acct, I'm good. I will tackle those things today.
Great!!! So glad. Now it's my turn. Still debating. I'm so lazy though.
It's a straightforward process. The hardest part is the WAITING and waiting for the device to be finished and the apps to be loaded. Then you have to open them all and sign in again. I keep an actual notebook (you knew i would) of all my apps, logins, email addresses, server names, ip addresses, etc to make the process easier. I can look it up when I have to do it again.
And I have to say that I hated every minute of wiping my device but it is running as smoothly and as quickly as I day I bought it!
Nothing helps a sluggish device like a wipe and reload!
I should just do it periodically anyway.....
Wait.....................
