If you're going to get the Curve, don't get the 8330, get the 8530, the updated one with the touchpad.

i know about the 8530 but im working under the assumption that the essex is coming out within a month (2 at most) add on 2/3 months to work out any bug/production problems (a la tour1) and i'm only looking at a phone to hold me through 3-5 months. I dont see that span of time justifying paying such a high cost for an 8530 when a used 8330 can be had for sub 100.

i fiddled around with the new curve at the vzw store today, the one with the trackpad, and wasn't too impressed

the trackpad seemed to stick to my fingers a bit, not so smooth in scrolling, and all the buttons(the four classic blackberry buttons) were all connected which i didnt like

will the new tour be like this or will it be more like the first tour in terms of build quality and seperated buttons

Yes I also saw that too and I'm hoping he has a release date for us! I was just in the Verizon store yesterday my brother bought the Droid and i was playing around with the Curve 8530 and the Tour....I love the Tour but want the trackpad and wifi. Hope Sal comes through for us!!!

Are there any ideas what the upgrade pricing may be? Looks like for my NE2 I get an extra $30 off whatever promotion they are running. Normally they show the $100 off the phone.

release and annoucement date are different things. i think its fair to say that the 15th is not the release date :'(

With Sals announcement that we can expect something between the 15th of Dec and the 20th of Jan I kind of felt like the any time after the 15th we could expect an official announcement. So no its the official waiting game for the announcement. :P if that makes any sense to anyone besides me.
