- Stew, I did not write the tax code, my tax rate is what it is. You can look at it and realize what my tax bracket is -- and determine our income level. It is easy to say I should not send that much to Washington, but I do. There are no loopholes for people like my wife and I, people who work very hard and put in long hours to earn our income.
My point was that no one is advocating socialism. You may believe that, but I do not; we read the same sources and come to different conclusions. These days, corporations are the only ones feeding at the public trough. You may have missed it, but welfare is over. It has been gone since the middle of the Clinton administration.
Maybe you like our "free" trade with the likes of Communist China, a country that has actually threatened us. Or maybe the unprecedented wealth transfer to our enemies in the Middle East and Venezuela. And the tax breaks McCain advocates for companies who take our jobs overseas in search of cheaper and cheaper labor?
And thanks for putting words in my mouth. I don't hate anyone, especially the rich. I'm working my a** off trying to join them. I still wait for an answer to my question, why should I pay higher rates than some trust funder who never worked a day in their life? Basic fairness is all I want to see, Stew. Where's my tax break? I haven't seen one yet.

- I asked if anyone had heard anything about the "rumor", and the keyword is rumor...you are reading too deep, I am inside your head, you need help
Hope this helps
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com10-23-08 01:10 PMLike 0 - The word "rumor" has nothing to do with it, the name Hussein is what I was referring to and you're right, you are in my head. I think about people like you with ridiculously skewed senses of reality all the time.10-23-08 01:33 PMLike 0

I should point out that I am not just blaming Democrats for this. I am even more frustrated with "so-called" Republicans who were elected as "conservatives" but have been anything but.
My solution to these issues is not to go even "further" left.
My point was that no one is advocating socialism. You may believe that, but I do not; we read the same sources and come to different conclusions. These days, corporations are the only ones feeding at the public trough. You may have missed it, but welfare is over. It has been gone since the middle of the Clinton administration.

Drill. Drill yesterday.
Maybe if the tax burdens on those companies weren't what they are---they wouldn't have to go overseas. I have been at the top ranks of a large corp. The tax burdens combined are backbreaking. Even now in my small business it is painfully difficult for me to hire new people.
That being said, your question above about "some trust funder" does kind of make my point.
Is it fair that "some trust funder" got a break in life you didn't get? No.
Is life fair? No
The fact of the matter is "somebody" already paid lots of taxes on that money. The government (regardless of who's running it) should not be allowed to keep coming back for more.
You should get a tax break--we all should. I just don't believe in attacking success.
Let's say I work hard, put 2nd and 3rd mortgages on my house, don't take nice vacations, sacrifice much of my free time and buy just enough groceries to get by all so that I can make my business successful. One day I finally make it. After 5, 10, 15 years or more of struggling I start to make the income I always dreamed of. My reward is giving huge chunks of it to the government? If I one day leave the business to my son, he has to take out a loan to satisfy the tax burden on the business I built?
exelant, let me finish by saying that I can tell by your posts that you are not some koolaid drinker anymore than I am. Your points are obviously very thoughtful and I appreciate where you are coming from.
To be honest, I'm not some huge McCain fan. But it's not because he's not moderate enough.......it's because he's not conservative enough for me.10-23-08 01:38 PMLike 0 -

- Give me a break, you're referring to him like that for a reason. Call him Barack, or soon you can call him President Obama...
If you like John McCain, that's fine with me, I support your right to choose, but you should spend more time telling people why McCain is a better choice than Obama, not throwing childish insults at Barack.10-23-08 02:00 PMLike 0 - I didn't know it was an insult to call someone by their name. I will keep that in mind. I have laid out several times why hussein will hurt this country...
1. Socialism doesn't work
2. Healthcare should be left private
3. He has some friends that are shady characters
4. He is the same left wing liberal that has been running for years
5. He wants to reduce troop sizes
6. Spend less on defense
7. Spread the wealth around
Hope this helps10-23-08 02:04 PMLike 0 - socialism is what joe-the-plumber called it...he doesnt want to govern health care, just mandate that everyone be entitled to it (that's called moving forward as a society)...everyone has friends who are/were shady, especially every polititian so singeling out obama doesnt prove anything...im not completely positive he's the left wing side of the liberals at all - a liberal yes, but a left wing liberal i believe is a bit of an overstatement, and we've see what the conservative agenda has done (or not done) for the past 8 years...i've never once heard obama say he wants to reduce troop sizes or spend less on defense, that would go through congress and it would never pass anyway, now reduce troop size in iraq and the amount of money we spend in iraq? now yes he did say that and so has the majority of congress and the senate...again with the wealth, all he's saying is that taxation should spread more equitably...10-23-08 02:24 PMLike 0

2. Maybe so, but McCain wants to tax healthcare. Ask a family that has to buy their own healthcare how far $5000 will go with two kids.
3. Really, still beating that horse to death? Kinda like Keating five?
4. Generic statement, same me saying that McCain is another Bush.
5. He want to responsibly end the war. This can't go on forever, Americans are dying everyday..
6. We should, and give a little more attention to things like education, have any children?
7. He wants more wealthy Americans to help this country realize the American dream, do you make more than $250 grand? Why wouldn't you want your taxes to go down?
Hope this helps.10-23-08 02:26 PMLike 0 - Education is the states responsibility, why doesn't anyone understand this...yes I would like lower taxes, but not at the expense of another person
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com10-23-08 02:47 PMLike 0 - vinnie's serious insecurities spill out in his 'in your head' sentiment; and the like thereof. Denial is a reality for many.
Vinnie, Obama is going to be your next President (face it)...so if you like referring to people by their middle name; have a field day. But you won't be referring to the next President as Sidney :-).
Take care buddy.

- O.K. B.O. in 08 fans. If you won one million dollars in the lotto, would you be pissed that the government took 35% of it? Well how would you feel if instead of winning it you got a good education and worked your a$$ off for it. 35%! Thats what B.O. wants to tax those making <250,000 per year. Now only 10% of Americans make that or more and I'm sure not one of them so why should I care? Because those people making <250,000 don't care either. These are the CEO's and heads major corporations and highly skilled professions. And they don't care because they will simply pass that 35% down to you and I driving up cost to us on EVERYTHING. This economy is screwed under the B.O. plan. You will not see the pipe dream plan he is selling and you WILL see higher taxes and unemployment because the line between working and saying screw it give me a welfare check is disappearing.10-23-08 03:41 PMLike 0
- Everyone has their own opinion, I'll tell you the same thing I told Vinnie, spend more time talking about your own candidate, talking about Barack Obama all day is one of the reasons John McCain will lose this election.10-23-08 03:51 PMLike 0
- oh and the notion that a ceo is going to charge more for the product that his/her company makes just because they're paying higher taxes is ridiculous...they're in the business of making money and guess what? if they economy is on the down turn (like it is now) prices go down...you notice the gas prices around the corner? if a ceo gets tagged for more taxes all that means is that he/she sends less money to their over seas bank account...10-23-08 04:08 PMLike 0
