There is a new search engine out called google. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but its wonderful. Go there and type hamas, obama and see what is brought up. Anyways, I can see that I am surrounded by "progressive" people, who think the government should be their mother and father. I am in complete disagreement with that. I served in the marines for eight years defending this country, and no matter what anyone says I love this country. I believe that everyone in this country has a chance at success. Any 18 year old male or female can enlist in the military and turn their lives around.

So far, I haven't read anyone being overtly rude, except for you (keep in mind, I've read EVERY page of this thread and posted a few times). Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I feel that you feel that yours is the only one that matters. The thing that sets you apart from this group is your ignorance. For the most part, regardless of which "side" you're on, everyone has been understanding of other peoples opinions. I think you need to step back and stop being so condescending towards people. Stop talking to people like they're idiots. I realize you're a Marine, and you probably cant help this though. Don't get me wrong, Marines are my favorite, just not you and I don't care what you think as I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

And in regards to your comment about being in the Marines for 8 years: that is your justification for being the way you are. People are constantly justifying who they are. I am good friends with a retired Navy SEAL. He doesn't act like you. He LOVES this country as much as the next person but he's voting for Obama, because as a SEAL, he lived in the crap that was created from the beginning and he doesn't wish that upon anyone else. Two of my best girl friends just graduated from Army Bootcamp, both are in their mid 20's. One will be deployed to Iraq in August 2009. I don't think being in the military makes you love the country any more or less than the next guy, you just have a different appreciation.

One last thing, do you realize how much GARBAGE Google pulls up? I did what you said to make sure I was correct in what I'm saying. The very first site is someone's blog, the next is Fox News, the next is a forum. Four out of the nine links were blogs or forums and the only 'credible' site of those 9 was Fox News.

I can see how that can be true. I'm a no bullsh!t kinda person so I can't tell if Hi-def is being rude, and since I agree with him I guess it's that much harder for me to see.

Hi-def is also obviously well versed in what he's saying and not just telling people they're wrong. He's fighting, for lack of a better term, with the facts and in general people have a hard time with facing the facts. That, in my opinion, is the ONLY way to have an argument/discussion; based on fact, not hear-say.

And Democrats have been too passive for too long. Not fighting back when the name calling and accusations start. It's ridiculous to say were not patriotic or for a strong defense. It is time to stand up to those who have always tried to push us around. We're not going to take it anymore, so when someone attacks us, we are not giving in anymore.

I guess it depends on your perspective. The Bush "friends" invented the term Swift Boating and attacked Kerry's war record -- which was defended by the guy he saved from the water. Even if it was embellished -- which we now know it wasn't, he actually had a combat command and served under fire while Bush avoided duty in the States. The Republicans are pretty good at flinging you know what.

Now no one in this thread has said one thing when I say that Obama doesn't even know how many states we have, last I head we have 50, he says 58 connected and 2 not connected. I'm pretty sure I learn that we had 50 in the 1st grade. And it's on video...This is just one of a lot of things hes said that are very stupid.

I'd like to share photos that I took of some great men at an Obama rally earlier today. I apologize for the sub-par quality; I noticed my Curve doesn't take the greatest quality shots whenever it's put into > 1X zoom.

One of the most inspiring things I experienced was the diversity of the crowd from all walks of life...rich, poor, white, black, hispanic, asian, square, rectangle, obtuse...you name it. But the more striking observation was the deep felt desire of the participants to want to make their lives better; to make the lives of their children promising. You could just tell from the pseudo-angst in their cheering and clapping...that it was deeply and sincerely felt; but at the same time...desperately hopeful for a better future that deflects from the mangled present now.

Before he was whisked away at the end of the really...I could only manage to grab a partial picture of one of the greatest presidents of our time (not even Republicans can deny this). It's ok that I didn't pull-off a better picture; afterall...his trademark** white hair was the money shot :-). I'll tell you something...the similarities between Obama and Clinton are striking; they're both extremely intelligent people and have great compassion for this country. Among many praises; Clinton stated how he sees a lot of himself in Obama; he stated that he sees a lot of the qualities in Obama to become NOT JUST the President of the United States...but the delegator of the free world. The latter of which is an ever-more critical role in this day and age...than ever before...he stated. The world is only getting smaller; as is evidenced by the vast inundation of negative-effects our economic crisis here at home is causing in the Asian and European markets for example.

This was; and is..truly..the straight talk express.

Man, I've been gone for a couple weeks tied up in work helping open a bar.. I just read the last 7 pages. Lots of great information and conversation! Very entertaining.
It's been a long day; and the culmination to a tiring week. The only respite was the rally today. With that said; if that bar is up and running for business...tell the bartender to be accomodating to Mr. Hi-Def for some (ok a slight understatement perhaps) adult beverage entertainment.

There is a new search engine out called google. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but its wonderful. Go there and type hamas, obama and see what is brought up. Any 18 year old male or female can enlist in the military and turn their lives around.
I will not; and cannot take away the respect that's owed to you in the sector of your life for serving in the Marines. What an amazing thing, we have at least one thing in common...the love for this country. You know what's an even BETTER deal? Those same 18-year olds for example; can go to the ballot w/ their uniform on if they choose to...and cast an educated vote for not only the sake of turning THEIR lives around; but how about in-turn...being able to the turn the lives of others around as well.

You're not the only one who served Vinnie. I was in the Air Force from 1971 to 1974. I spent 4 months in 1971 at a place called Pleiku. In addition, I grew up in the military. You also won't find anyone more patriotic than me. Like I said earlier, you have this preconceived notion about me, but it is wrong.

I also love my country, so when I see it going down the wrong path, I speak out. The right always wants to blame our problems on someone else -- they can never take responsibilty for their own actions.

I hear they're going to take your guns! Well, I've still got my guns. They're a bunch of socialists. What do you call these bailouts? Bush is socializing debt. How many more freedoms are you willing to give up? How about being held in jail without being accused of a crime or given access to the courts? That's next.

My wife works for a defense contractor and spends weeks at a time in Iraq, Afganistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bosnia. She and I have a pretty good idea of how the war is going. But the bottom line is that I and my family are patriots and we're doing our share. I resent you implying otherwise.
The bailout money paid-out to these big corporate entities as of late; are in the sum of OVER ONE TRILLION dollars...yeah; that's a lot of zeros. These zeros are being circled compliments to tax-payer money...if you conclude that there are about 300 Million people in the U.S.; and on top of that extrapolate that not all of these 300 Million contribute to the tax-pool...and you divide this ONE TRILLION (let's even say 300 Million for the hypothetical factor) by 300 Million...that's about $3,333.33 burden on each American. Ask yourself, what can that $3,333.33 do for you if it was kept in your pocket instead?

What an amazing business plan huh? "Hey big business, you can keep all the profits you've made in your pocket...but if you're going under; don't worry...that's what the herd of middle class American income is for".

The same things happened in the 80's with the bailout/buyout of S&L's (Savings & Loans) using taxpayer money. But you know what; in an already bad situation w/ the housing crisis (the root); that is compounded by shortcomings of financial institutions (the vine)...this is what happens to try to prevent the tree from getting swallowed.

Btw, exelant..wow; I didn't realize your wife also worked in those other regions (Qatar, Bosnia for example)...that's really neat. Your wife actually seems to have a; for a lack of a more accurate word...cool...gig. I'm very curious as to what she has told you about the efforts of re-building and the sociopolitical scene in the Bosnia-Herzegovinia area now since the 90's turmoil.

And I think it will be happening a lot faster if obama gets in for sure because he doesn't seem to understand much of anything!
You all but cancel yourself out by making such a statement; oh art thou oracle of eternal understanding.

Hummm that's interesting, I thought that hi-def guy was the most rude. He's made some rude comments to me, and others threw out the site as if they are dumba**es! But IDK I agree on what I agree with and then what I don't I'll say so.
It's hmmm; w/o the "u" inserted into the hmmm...get it right.

Hey, no one can force you into anything against your will; and charge you unruly and falsely...the theme of this discussion isn't gitmo.

It's along the same lines of the McCain slogan of "Country First"...what's being implied; that Republicans are the only real Americans...and everyone else isn't??

That's what all this is about regardless of partisan/non-partisan lines...it's COUNTRY FIRST for all of us!! We have to change ourselves; our condition first...before we can aid in implementing aspects of this change; and showing this to others.

^^ I disagree on both their, in that, the liberals are always the ones making up lies about the Republicans...And blowing everything way out of proportion!
Bush=McCain, McCain=Bush...now that's in proportion. I'm just putting it out in layman's term for you.

    Right on Hrshycro.

Obama; the candidate for the President of the U.S.; a once CONSTITUTIONAL LAW professor...doesn't know how many states the U.S. has; but has a better plan and methodology to preside over the states than his counterpart does.

Well folks, Hrshycro summed up the greatest closing argument; befalling all of our logic and reality...we've been blind all along.

Smooth Minnie, I usually don't talk about my time in Viet Nam, but I thought that it more than anything else I've done in my life, would be something that could serve as a bridge between us to move the conversation to a place where we could discuss things without your anger getting the better of you. I guess that was a mistake, eh? Yeah, your comments hurt -- good for you. Thank God the Marines I know at work and the VFW have more class in their little fingers than you ever will. The bond I share with those guys from that conflict goes beyond time spent in basic training. But what would someone like you know about that. Write to or about me all you want. I won't give you the satisfaction of a response, as far as I'm concerned you don't exist. As*hole.

    Hey Def,

Tanya is more highly motivated by her work than anyone I have ever seen. She worried about taking this job because of the travel, but I really pushed her to do it. An opportunity for an adventure like this doesn't come along very often. I have a lot of respect for her and her co-workers. They are going in and out of war zones and performing with a great deal of competence. I am really tempted to join her firm when I hit my early retirement date in a couple years -- they need water people.

She's only been to Bosnia once -- to Tuzla AFB. Her firm just lost that contract. She said the Bosnians really love us, but the Serbs absolutely do not. You know people in that part of the world never forget. The Serbs hate the Bosnians because of the Turkish invasions of 1000 years ago, or whenever, haha.

The place she loves is Kyrgikistan (sp?). She said it is like a 3rd world Colorado -- but the mountains are higher! That would be a great adventure! I worry most about the way she has to get around -- they go everywhere in Army and Navy helicopters. You know from phobia thread I hate to fly to begin with haha.

She also talks about how wealthy the Arabs are. Huge malls and expensive cars. One of her funniest photos is of a mall in Kuwait with a bunch of Arabs sitting in front of Starbucks.

Oh, and Hrsh... When you're 16 you know everything. I'm not much older than you but I still know that when I was your age I thought I knew everything. The simple fact that you really want me to explain what I mean shows how immature you are. Enough said.

NO. The news media in general (all of it) like to blow things out of proportion. Basically, that's the only way they can keep people interested. Think about it. Which (fake, example only!!!) headline would draw your attention more: Kid got black eye at school today" or "Kid brutally beat by older boys"? The media blows what people say out of proportion and also distort the truth in some cases. They also jump the gun before getting details. A popular example is Truman's triumph over Dewey. A newspaper had already predicted Dewey the winner and put it in the paper as such. Wish I coulda seen the editor's face when he found out the truth though! LOL

Exactly! One of my favorite commercials is the one where the soldiers are walking into the airport terminal and EVERYONE turns around and starts clapping for them!

I salute you and thank you all for laying your life on the line to keep this country a free country! (With the exception of the Patriot Act) I dunno about you, but I don't like the fact that the FBI, CIA, and SS can listen to my phone calls!
