If Boeing had shipped its customer a plane and then said that, "well , you see it has no trouble landing and taking off but good luck steering - the steering upgrade is coming in 60 days" then you might have something.
As it is, you are just stirring the pot - again.
I heard steering is coming in DreamLiner 2.0.
You so often miss the point Blackjack.
Boeing has not shipped the product half baked and then promised to fix it then continually missed its own guidance for releases.
Imagine Boeing releasing a plane without seats because they expect everyone to own a deck chair. What if people dont own a deck chair? They have to stand? Fly in another plane, perhaps one that was released with all the features you expect in a plane!
Sheeesh....

Sitting in the home of boeing, well, a good portion of its manufacturing this news is kind of old news. Others have pointed out your limited analogy.
But the more interesting take was on the local news this morning - nice plane, even more limited seat space. And another interview with, I guess, one of its interior designers was the type of propaganda you like: a summary, after driving to the airport, going through security, etc, etc, we wanted people to feel it was worth it as they walked though the doors and experienced HEAVEN (my take on his comments). And then I thought about the other earlier comments, yup, heaven until you try to use auto-text, ahem, I mean sit in the narrow, constricted seats and LOSE all over again! And before unleashing it on the public, boeing did attempt to make sure that the deficient wing attachments worked!!!
But, as I asked in another thread - who is trolling? Clearly, you cannot justify rim's deficiencies by pointing to another's deficiencies. Both screwed up. This does not make rim's screw-ups acceptable. And let's hope the damn carbon fiber composite to auto-correct and not implode.
Good observation on airplanes. Boeing has few competitors: namely one, Airbus
By comparison, ANY computer manufacturer can make a tablet (even if terrible)
I substantially relied on the earlier release date, I'm suing boeing.

Amen...thank you!!!
Wow OK the usual cast has weighed in, and patted each other on the back. Anyone else?
Are you guys arguing with yourself? Because all I did was ask for opinions. You guys are stirring yourselves.
Trolling is when you go around doing nothing but peeing on everyone's positive threads and positive attitudes..
Stirring the pot threads are ones like these:

Who's trolling who?
Actually since haters didn't respond to my hater poll, I thought I would round them up in one place where I can count them lets see... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... KIDDING!! lighten up and try to enjoy your Playbooks!
Now back to the forum topic. Anyone?
.
If you asked this question on a Boeing/787 forum, it would have made sense. Here, I see it as another of your thinly veiled attempts to push your agenda and cause trouble. Sorry to say it, but this place was a lot better behaved when you were banned.
+1 on this Leg-Humper. Got a rolled up newspaper anyone?
It's a valid comparison in my opinion and yes my agenda is to encourage optimism and positivity amongst users of Playbook in a Playbook forum. Valid place for that. Unfortunately part of that is to counter and defend unfair attacks and misinformation against the device and people who enjoy sharing positivity about the device. The agenda I see is to prevent it's success and that doesn't come from me.
Sorry if it bothers you. Nobody has to come into this thread. You invited yourselves in. I have had to be bothered by posts of other people's agenda which is entirely negative. Whats the difference? I am interested in what people think is the difference is between RIM's delay and Boeing's delay, because I certainly am not the one that brings up the topic most often. . They had customers as well. It was better behaved because you all were behaving yourselves. I'm not here to fight, nor am I fighting. Nuf said?
excuse me sir, or maam, please name one idevice not ipod that was released complete....?? name one... dont worry ill wait..
Here's my opinion, thanks for asking.
The Dreamliner rolled out when it was complete and ready. Things take time, schedules are missed. Not much I could do with one that had half the features implemented. Playbook is useful with half the features implemented, would everyone have preferred to wait two years?
Not me.
Sorry for my positive agenda, you all have yours, I have mine.
.
Where did I say 'complete'?
Read again, "features you expect in a plane!".
The key is features the public expect on any given device. Early devices set standards / expectattions, following devices meet or exceed = success, lack standard expected feature = fail.
Simple really.

I invited myself into this thread because I have a deep interest in aviation. "Dreamliner" sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Yes, the Dreamliner was delivered late but I have seen numerous 787s fly to and from the Boeing Airfield running tests. I now see Boeing 747-800/800F aircraft doing tests. The very first customer for the 787 would have been the UK based travel agency, First Choice. It was no more due to their merge with Thomson. Airbus also had problems with schedule with their whale-of-an A380-800 and there were faults along the way. I would pick Boeing any day if I had to choose between it and Airbus. Singapore Airlines boasted that they were the first customers for the A380-800 but it doesn't make want to fly with them
