Very outdated. Admitting a sexual orientation other than what was "acceptable" was thought to be a liability. Now it's just the way it is.
There's no reason to flaunt what your sexuality is in a situation like military service.
No one has the right to penalize anyone for being who they are. It really has nothing to do with serving. If a person is willing to give their life to keep us safe then they should be allowed to without being hounded in the process. Most people complaining the loudest haven't and won't volunteer for a day in the service.
