There is something about this song...in this version, and the original. This has always been my favorite female vocal of all time.
It's emotion without words. It's basic and primal, set to music. And it always moves me.

The Great Gig In The Sky, by Pink Floyd

Could not agree more. Simply beautiful

    .

    Finally some musical common ground!

I saw JB live years ago, and you could tell he: A. Picked high calibre musicians.
    B. He had them trained to watch him at ALL times, to pick up all manner of pre-arranged cues, so they could follow whatever whim struck him on stage. Great show.

@ Wulf - Thanks for the reminder of what a great talent Palmer
was and why he was such a great loss. Talented and always classy

@ Chad - Thanks. If I hadn't seen the JB / RP video, combining
the two would never have occurred to me but man did it work.

@ Gazer - Yes. James was the total package. Sadly I never
got to see him perform live.

Speaking of seeing someone live, that Cocker brought back memories. That was one of the last things my Mom and I ever did together, and what a performance he puts on. I don't know if anyone feels the music more, and it shows.

That post, made me think about other concerts I had taken her to. One of those was Chuck Mangione, I've seen a few of his, and worked with him in person. Anywho, his bassist for many years was Charles "Mean Man" Meeks, and one of the best I've ever heard. I thought that man had more talent than the rest of the band put together. So I did a little search for something to show off his unique sound, other than a Mangione song. I think you guys are gonna dig the funk layed down here:

This one is for fun. Beautiful People specialized in combining Jimi Hendrix
tune into one song. How many can you identify in this one?

that is cool. I'm going to send that one to my friend who is a guitarist. I used to be a pianist (still know how to play but don't have a piano anymore).

I like your eclectic musical tastes. . I like all kinds of music too.

Glad you liked it. Not everyone's taste but it is way creative.
It may be hard to find but that CD is a work of art.
BTW, I am a flautist. I wish I could play piano.

The B-52s, always liked em, "cause their odd.

As for Zeppelin, live version from concert film The Song Remains The Same: lost track of how many times my friends and I would get baked, and go see that at The Roxy theatre on Saturday nights when we was teenagers.

    Good times.

I vaguely remember going to see Led, and if not Rocky Horror. The Florida Rocking Chair Theater, and yes they did rock. It only comes in flashbacks now though.
