It was the heyday of the CB Radio craze, when the deep voice of C.W. McCall opened the song "Convoy" on the radio with CB chatter. The song was the rage for a good period of time, and still serves the trucking community to this day. It was our Anthem, in many ways, an ode to a profession that many men and women serve today.

C.W. McCall was the alter-ego of Bill Fries, a man who also made safety training videos for trucking schools and the industry at large. He entered hospice a few weeks ago knowing the end was near. I know a number of drivers that entered the industry because of his contributions to it. Fair winds, Bill, and thanks for the memories.
