Ban on importing "restricted" handguns takes affect today in Canada. As the Public Safety Minister spoke:
"the number of registered handguns in Canada increased by 71 per cent between 2010 and 2020, to about 1.1 million.

"The total universe of handguns has exploded," Mendicino said in an interview. "And at the same time, we've seen handgun violence go through the roof. That is not a coincidence — there is a correlation between those two trends.

"The growth of the universe of handguns makes them more accessible to everyone, and that includes criminals."

"total universe of handguns". That's an odd term for a politician to use. I doubt their models were based on predicate and/or propositional calculus.

Another oddity in the article is the note that handguns were the most serious weapon present in most firearm-related violent crimes between 2009 and 2020. What does that even mean? How possibly could a violent crime involving a non handgun firearm not consider that non handgun as serious? I think they must have meant that handguns are the predominant firearm used in crimes when firearms are involved.

There was a goofy timezone debate in the End of Days movie between Arnold's character and a priest, or something another from the church. Wish I had my thumb on that now for this discussion.
