True! Plus I wouldn't have to worry about burying a 500 gallon propane tank in the front yard. That SD70 comes with a 5000 gallon above ground diesel fuel tank.

This video clip is in French, back in 1998 when Quebec had that nasty ice storm lasting 4 days and took out hundreds of Towers, CN came to the rescue for a couple of municipalities....

Cool train. I've always loved trains, but the ones with steam locomotives are my favourites.

I also love antique and vintage railway standard pocket watches.

Very nice! This is not vintage, but it's the watch I used for work, and even now, occasionally. Up until about 10 years ago, the Railroad required all operating employees to have a Railroad Approved watch while on duty. Since I was a train nut before I started working on them, I continued to buy and use the Railroad Approved Seiko. I believe that they are still available.

That's a really nice watch. I love the dial. It's interesting that the Canadian railways used the 24 hour dial, but the USA railways did not.

I use 24 hour time on my phone and computer.

Actually, some in the US do. CSXT uses the 24 hour clock. I worked for NS and we used the 12 hour clock, mostly. It was strange because some of our departments sometimes used the 24 hour clock!

Yeah, the regular Seiko watches don't have the additional 13 to 24. They are not too expensive. I think that I paid about $110.00 or so for mine. Being a railroader and a rail fan, I just thought it was kind of special.

Very nice collection, our family has a 18k Bunn Special Railroad watch that belonged to my grandfather who was a conductor for 32 years. The sad part is he died on the job, had a massive heart attack while at work.

My dad fought in World War 2, in the Polish 2nd Corps. He was at Monte Cassino in Italy. He shared some watches (Bulova and Gruen) with me. Then he died. Then my mother died. I haven't talked to my sister since 2002 but I've heard that she has suffered from colitis .

What is really freaky is that my mother and my wife's mother died the same month back in 2002. In the same Hospital and even the same floor! My mother was 84 and my wife's mother was 64. My mother was just old age and with typical conditions , my wife's mother had an aneurysm, passed out at home and laid on the floor for 2 days before being found. She never regained consciousness and the plug was pulled after a few days of no evidence of brain activity. It was weird, she spent the whole time incapacitated with her eyes wide open.

Neither 2 of those fine ladies left me a watch however.
