Why would someone turn up the thermostat from 65f to 80f in the hope that the house will heat up to 70f faster? Why would somebody do the same thing with an oven, oh if I set it to 400f it'll reach 350f faster. Well when you forget to turn it down you get one of two things... a hot house or a burned chicken.
Some of the new and really high end ovens and furnaces might start to "slow down their heating" as the desired temperature starts to get close, so as to not over shoot. So, if one sets them higher, kind of like trying to ensure they stay in "afterburner" mode longer, then I guess one could assume the desired temperature will be reached sooner, at the risk of over shooting.
You and everyone else who ever came to be under his thumb. Arrogant SOB. Sure glad we rebuffed his efforts to merge at the time. I'm also glad that I got out when I did.
